Don't think anyone is saying they weren't. Was there a bigger gap between the Mongols and the #2 assholes of their era compared to assholes of other eras and their peers.

I don’t see the argument on how the Persians were worse unless you’re simply referring to the boats, which yeah that’s the worst death possible, although I’m thinking that punishment predates Persia.
