You’ve quickly become one of the most retarded posters on this board, and that’s saying something.

New Orleans doesn't have a single 3 star rated restaurant?

I like Emerils, but there are several other places in the city that are better.
People who think otherwise come to New Orleans once in a blue moon. Emeril’s is good, but it’s a pimple on an elephant’s arse to commander’s.
For pure dining pleasure, commander’s is the top of the heap. Everything is perfect. Not one single hair out of place.
I could name several other places over emeril’s one of which is an emeril’s restaurant, lol.

Michelin guide was originally created to make people drive more so they could sell more tires
It was actually so they would ride their bicycles more. Michelin started out making bicycle tires.

For better or worse, Commander's is not a Michelin star worthy restaurant. As mentioned before the guide has a type and Emeril's is designed ground up to fit that mold. The first and most important thing is that Commander's has a dated menu and second that goes for the decor as well. It isn't to say it isn't good or even great food, but it is just not what the Michelin judges look for.

No. It was started as a motorists’ guide, showing gas stations, tire repair locations, and places to eat (thereby encouraging people to drive their cars more and sell more auto tires).

Right. They say they judge solely on food, and you get the random starred taqueria in Mexico City or food stall in Singapore, but for the most part, there is a type. And while I enjoy Commander’s, it doesn’t have the Michelin Star vibe.

Emerils was completely redone by his son a few years back into tasting menu only, michelin star heat seeking missile. Its obnoxiously nice, ridiculously good, even more obnoxiously priced (like 700 to 1000 a head easy).
its obvious alot of people have no clue in this thread and are thinking about the old daddy emerils that was closed years ago. Theres almost zero overlap of dads Emerils of years past. You aren't getting shrimp fettuccine.
Emerils is absolutely Michelin star worthy now. It was basically made specifically into a Michelin star hunting tasting menu resturaunt with no expense spared by emerils son e.j....they walk each party through their kitchen that is spotless as all the people in the kitchen know your name and greet you with prepared statements in unison, show you all the ingredients they are working with, that kinda stuff.
It was a foregone conclusion that they had earned the Michelin star. It was the best fine dining meal and experience ive ever gotten in nola, not even close, also the most expensive. Went last fall with my wife for her bday, and we were floored. Commanders, which i love of course, is not even comparable to emerils for Michelin star considerstion, emerils is in a league of its own currently. shite there isn't much comparable in the gulf south in general.

I love how the kitchen is framed, almost like a theater stage. If it is your thing and are lucky enough to get one of the close tables, it is like dinner and a show.

Have you been to the new Emeril's?
Posted on 11/4/25 at 5:45 am to moontigr
I’ll say it, Commanders is meh.
It’s fun for a group dinner for the ambiance but the food is not really awe-inspiring.

Emeril's has been excellent every time I've been.

New Orleans has the most overrated food in Louisiana. It doesn't come close to 337.

The new Emeril’s has better service than Commander’s and far better food. Some of you are thinking of what Emeril’s used to be.

That is how you know almost all awards are fake or very suspicious.
Don’t get me started on brand reliability awards.
Certain auto manufacturers were cutting checks for awards for a decade plus when anyone who touched a car knew there was no correlation to quality whatsoever.

Supposedly Michelin won't award that first time out. Restaurants have to sit in a lower tier for a year or two before they are promoted up FYI, or so an article I read. This might be especially true for new cities getting their first ratings.
