Something similar happened to me with eBay and PayPal about 3-4 years ago. It was an actual item I sold and the buyer waited 6 months to say they didn’t get it. I haven’t used my PayPal account since that day and was not sent to collections or anything.

I had a dispute with Direct Tv after I closed my account. The frickers did deduct $350.00 from my account without my approval. I called my bank (chewed them out) and emailed the BBB. Direct TV replaced my money with an apology.
This whole thing sounds like a scam and I am sure Paypal has seen this before. See if you can appeal the decision with Paypal. Do what you can to fight this issue.

Yea I prefer the small claims court option over rolling over and dying.
i hearya, hench my detailed reply.
but the point i was trying to make is those companies have shite you agree to to use them and in most cases you have to give up all your rights to use them.
in other words, to go to claims court, you may find the agreement you signed with them gave them the ultimate power to decide who wins in these disputes.
im no lawyer but a lawyer drew up that agreement you signed and they did it to expressly protect them from suits like you are contemplating.
before letting this go too far, you better have a lawyer friend look over the agreement you signed when you agreed to use paypal services

Happens to businesses all the time. Some are fraudulent chargers, but some people scam places this way.

So what I’ve learned today is you can just buy digital goods, pay for them, and then file a complaint with your credit card.
Yes

I mean he was probably hacked but I’m not sure why I should be help responsible for this dude falling for a phishing scam when my sale was legit.
What concert was this? City is 'he' from?

That dude has ZERO social media presence...
Are you sure the guy is claiming his account was hacked or was it the credit card used to purchase that was hacekd?
Also, I had a friend leave the negative balance with Venmo (same as paypal) and they never came after them...you just can't use paypal again...
Another common tactic, they have X amount of days to file a complaint and they wait to the last day to file their scam.

Have you contacted your local police dept to possibly pursue it as a theft case?
If these were being sold for over face value in Louisiana the cops are probably not going to help since it's illegal.

but they could report to the credit bureaus as a collection item dragging your credit score down.
For $520, I'd take the chance.

Wait, Mingo told me that is a waste of time that the cops doin't care about credit card theft............
I actually said they do retard. Go back and read my posts in that thread.
As for the OP, if you are that serious about it if get in touch with PayPal and threaten litigation. They aren't going to want to go to court over $500 so I'd guess they'd refund you when you tell them that. If not, as another poster said, try to confirm if the tickets were used. The venue will have a record of all scanned tickets, whether they'll give you that info I don't know. If you sold them and they were used what happened after your sale was complete is completely irrelevant to your transaction.

Not sure what the f you expect people to post about. Hopefully if anything I saved someone from having to go through this type of shite

I hope you learned your lesson and stop ripping people off with your concert ticket scam.

I don’t do business via internet with people I don’t don’t vet or qualify as real customers first. Do a little background check and confirm who you’re dealing with would have prevented this.
You got, got.
You got, got.

Track down his social media and find a pic posted from the concert. Print some screenshots, media, etc. with time stamps. Mail that along with a letter from your attorney with intention of suing him for the $520 plus attorney's fees and punitive damages for pain an suffering.
Agree.
And F Paypal. The whole point of a third party payment company is that they validate the checking account or credit card for you. Since you aren't allowed to see the buyer's payment information, you shouldn't be responsible for fraud.
They failed to exercise a reasonable standard of care. That's their fault.

I bought Bocelli tickets at 750 each last year. Many weeks before the concert, as flights were involved, etc
They fed ex'd them to me even though they were printed from Ticketmaster.
It was a top company and I assume they knew how to get around the "I never got the email" bullshite.
I admit, I was sweating it till the second they scanned us in at the door.
