Quick story I sell some concert tickets on Craigslist and send a PayPal invoice to the email address and receive money then transferred the tickets (via Ticketmaster) to that same email address . I had email conversations with the buyer agreed on a price and confirmed receipt of money and receipt of tickets. A couple weeks later I have a complaint on my PayPal account and now a negative balance because the buyer claims unauthorized access to his account. Basically guy tells credit card company he was hacked and hacker sent his money to buy the tickets.

I send all my shite over to PayPal proving that I sent the tickets and they were received and now got an email saying I lost the case and as an extra frick you were gonna charge another $20. They claim Intangible goods or services are not covered under Seller Protection.

I had a zero balance at the time they tried to take the money back so my balance is now $-520. I intend to just close this acccount but is their anyway they can take the money out of my bank account without my authorization??

For as many posts as you have, you'd think you'd be able to write a complete sentence or two.

They may not be able to collect from your banking account, but they could report to the credit bureaus as a collection item dragging your credit score down.

LOL Good Lord

"Dear OT help me make daily decisions"

Just remove your banking information from your PayPal account and then close the PayPal account.

No they can't just go into your account and take money out without your permission

If I had a bank account linked to Paypal, I'd close that bank account immediately. And it wouldn't require any Paypal scamming; I'd shut it down.

Short answer, yes. It's in all that fine print that no one reads when you sign up.

Paypal can be dicks, and will almost always side with buyers in disputes. Did you mail the tickets or do an electronic transfer? Is there any recourse with the ticket company to void those tickets if you prove you were scammed?

Electronic transfer. Concert was a few nights after I sold them and didn’t even know about this unauthorized complaint till a few weeks later

That's why you don't do business with PayPal.

Not sure about whether they can draft your account without permission, but if you don't clear up the negative balance you're going to end up getting turned over to a collection agency who could report to credit bureaus.

All of these companies will almost always side with the buyer. Some of them, like eBay, won't even ask for the seller's side.

That’s the gist of it. Or if it was a scammer he then sold the tickets and made some money.
