Kettles actually work pretty well as a smoker if you are willing to baby it every hour. Best turkey I ever did was on a 22" Kettle with a Smokenator 1000
I have a 26" kettle that I use as a smoker from time to time using the snake method with the charcoal. Works pretty well.
And, yes, Weber all the way over Char Grill. Great grills.

I replaced a Weber kettle several years ago with a Big Green Egg. When the time comes the Egg will be replaced with another Weber.

Char broil is better for me. I like their Tru infrared technology

Is Weber worth the extra money?
If you want a grill to last 15+ years then yes. If you just want something to grill with now and plan to upgrade in a few years then a less expensive model should suffice. However, the char broil brand overall is junk so maybe look at other options

i just bought a nexgrill $600 naturali gas grill. I love weber but i'm not paying a $1000 more comparison that may do a smidge better. I got 12 years out my last piece of crap grill.
I just bought a Members Mark grill from Sam's for $500 that's comparable to a 1k+ Weber

Ok now tell me more, seriously. Does it get hot enough? It doesn't look like it would. The burners are set really deep in the box.

Members mark was my first one

Yes worth the money. Love my Weber.

Not at all, I had a Weber for years.

Weber all day long.
Pit Boss pellet grills are also very nice.

I was married for 14 years the first time. The weber I bought used when we were first married went with me when I moved out.

They both grill great food. The difference is that I have a 4 year old Char Broiler that is starting to show rust and is getting a little frail, and I have a 12 year old Weber that, though dirty, is as good as the day I bought it.

Webers last 10 years or more if you take care of it.
If you use it twice a year maybe. I use mine 5-7 times a week. It’s not going to last 10 years, but I love it and I’ll purchase a new one in a year or so

If you even try to take care of it a Weber kettle or gas grill will last forever.

I have a 5 burner charbroil that’s lasted 8 years. Even the igniter button still works

Are the Weber chimney starters worth the money or should I just get a generic cheap brand? Send like there all the same

Just make sure to get one with the cone in the middle. I've seen flat ones that are surprisingly harder to ignite.
