Even worse for the forecasters because more and more people are not listening anymore. Why should they when a historic storm is predicted and nothing extreme happened in their area.

They'll listen after they lose their home

The tornado outbreak from April 27, 2011 has scarred so many and caused meteorologists to “overreact” with forecasts.

I do think this has something to do with it, and to be honest I understand it just trying to think from their perspective. They had to sit and watch as one violent tornado after another ripped through the Southeast killing 250 people in Alabama alone. It had to have caused some form of PTSD where at any hint of a similar setup they want to over communicate and warn people to take it seriously. I’d rather be relieved it wasn’t as bad than to be caught off guard and panic at the last minute to find adequate shelter.

40 tornadoes across 8 states with 31 dead in less than 48 hours with the event still going. But guess people were expecting entire towns to be blown away, since it isn't a "hurricane". Like it's some competition. Social media I think has driven people to just give bad takes for amusement

Yea those places frequently have tornados. This is a primarily south Louisiana message board. People here are tired of canceling everything every time strong thunderstorms are coming through. We haven’t had any serious tornados with any consistency south of I-10 and these areas are repeatedly told we are going to have extreme weather.

Anyone who is paying attention could tell what was going to happen, this was going to be an event for the places this is usually an event for.

SPC appears to have a hard on for SE Louisiana so far this spring. Last event they focused on SE Louisiana and ignored Toledo Bend/Central La/Ms State line to Jackson and there were way more tornadoes through that area than there was in SE LA. Though at the beginning of that event The Boat said to watch that more northern stretch. I’m sensing a trend here.

We need some MAGA weathermen to give us the real news and not fear monger.

Glad DOGE is cutting funding for the NOAA.

Last night at 12:15am there were 20 active tornado warnings and 11 PDS tornadoes from Texarkana to IL.

They can’t always tell what will result in that and what will be 5-10 tornadoes over an entire day. They just know when the conditions exist for it to happen.

We were in a TorCon 1, heard one clap of thunder, less than 1/2 " rain. But we were ready to head to the bathroom/hallway.
