The only argument I dont understand in the video is the price being paid to the farmers. They act as if the grain exporters are setting prices low intentionally but crops are a world commodity. You can book your crop with a contract to lock in a price or choose to sell at the “cash now” price.
But if there is a glut of grain then exporter will lower prices to try to sell more. If there’s a shortage they’ll raise prices to lock down supply. But commodity prices are largely influenced by the trading of futures contracts which follows similar strategies as investing in the stock market. Input costs are a problem but low prices aren’t due to a monopoly by grain exporters it’s due to an oversupply of grain. It doesn’t really matter if China buys from us or Brazil, there will still be a glut on the world market. Farmers want this price floor instead of subsidies but what that will cause is a decline in sales because then South America will undercut us

Farmers bitch more than any other directly subsidized industry other than public school teachers.
Most probably because farmers are the only people that have no person or entity, business company or avenue to pass costs down to ……everybody else on the supply chain like does …
John Deere can go up
Ag pilots can go up
consultants can go up
Seed companies, fertilize companies, chemical companies can go up
Part stores
Fuel companies
Everybody is making a mint on the back of a farmer and the American farmer has no one to pass cost down to we’re the one who eats it.
To make matters worse in a global market, which we’re in, we have very little say, and the cost in which we sell our product what other business in the world do you know where you make something a tangible product and you ask what will you give me for this ????
Iyou were selling hamburgers, you put 8$ a hamburger if you need more money you go up to $8.25. You’re selling cars you say I want $50,000 for this car and people either buy it or they won’t. It’s not that way with farming and that’s what you people don’t understand.
I’m sorry you stupid motherfrickers dint have the mental capacity to realize that and you think that all farmers just are sitting around on welfare sucking up tax dollars, but that ain’t the case and you don’t know what the frick you’re talking about.

If anyone believes there are politicians who are truly "America First" then you are a fool. They are "Whatever lobbyist pays me first". Corporate will eventually eat itself, but will crush anything they can before they get there.

Let's see what you think about American farmers when they are all gone and you will have to pay a lot more for everything farmers produce.

Morehouse solar contract is $3mil per year if I remember correctly. It would take 5 life times to maybe return that number. Yields are higher than they have ever been and prices are lower.
A fine and dandy right now. When solar goes the way of coal because the government doesn't need it, what will happen to all that land? Who will dispose of all those solar panels and equipment? Can't go back to farming it.
This universal income talk isn't a pipe dream. It's a reality because at some point we will be 100% dependent on the government.

Rice prices are at a 10 year low, in the last 18 months rice prices have gone from $28bbl to $16bbl. Rice is losing a substantial amount of money for farmers. Crawfish has always been the crop to profit but crawfish can’t dig out the hole being dug from Rice right now.

Seems like the farmers I know in S Louisiana do fairly well.
I know more than one sugarcane farmer south of Baton Rouge. I've been told something to the effect of sugarcane is a grass and cant be made GMO. Can someone explain this to me a bit better? Am I understanding the gist of it?

The things that you mention are a direct result of capitalism. The worst parts of capitalism, but capitalism none the less.

Bill Gates and the CCP have been buying up huge tracts of land all over the US because they share a common goal. To throttle our food supply. Add in other home grown idiocy that uses our tax dollars to fund these hideous solar and wind farm boondoggles, and squeeze the base of our food chain into gas tanks. This greenwashing BS doesn’t exist without heavy subsidies, and is absolutely driving up prices for everything.

The OP is about low prices for farmers. You are arguing prices are being driven up…..
