Sadly junk food is usually cheaper than healthy food and these people have to stretch each dollar. The SNAP program does not cost the average taxpayer much.

Seed oils are way worse for you than natural animal saturated fats.

Seed oils are causing NAFLD which is why no one can properly metabolize processed carbs.

Seed oils shouldn’t be classified as food.

Expanding the nanny state

True but be aware the Nanny State includes the government protecting large agricultural manufacturers. Government is having to interfere in the retail market because of their interference in the agricultural market.

As if a warning label is going to stop a fat kid from wolfing down a pallet of Cheetos

IMHO putting these labels on food won’t slow down whoever is going to buy them. They’re still going to buy it.

I agree with this for the most part but there is a podcast about health and fitness that I listen to and they contend that if macronutrients were renamed to what they actually do than people would look at food differently. They advocated that macronutrients should be relabeled as follows:

Fat = Energy
Protein = Muscle
Carbohydrates = Fat

The big thing with cigarettes is that they made it illegal to run commercials and advertise the product.

PubMed-Labels significantly associated with higher levels of smoking

They did this with cigarettes and raised the price and people continue to puff away.

The $8 bag of Fritos I had to buy for a party not so long ago disagrees.

But in all seriousness, when people say what you just said, they're referring to like.. quinoa and organic kale.

You know what else is relatively healthy and filling and provides nutrients? Chicken. Rice. Potatoes. Cabbage. Carrots.

All good foods and delicious. Some people do not know how to cook. If they did, they would eat less junk food. Food prepping goes a long way to a great meal.

I just checked the local Kroger ad. A14oz bag of Doritos was $5.99

1lb of 80/20 ground beef is $6.50

After eating the Doritos you’ll be hungry an hour later. The ground beef will fill you up.

Fatties don’t care. I love when places put calorie counts on menus but people still get the nachos and cheese fries followed up by a burger.

But 98% also have no idea how many calories they are consuming daily

Funny enough, the burger is sometimes a solid option sans fries.

I ordered the mahi mahi at Walkons once, knowing that mahi mahi is 100cal per 100g.

Got home and pulled up their nutrition. Mahi plate, which came with rice and veg, was 1010 calories. My usual order (burger sliders) is 760.

I had a lot of sad that day.

Insane to me that in the US the poorer you are the more likely it is that you and your children are obese.

I love seeing local news stories about food banks and such programs. Aww look at this wonderful program feeding the poor hungry folks among us. Then they show the free food recipients and 100% are obese.

Yep. Because the $1 menu and gas station hot dogs are much cheaper than a salad or grilled chicken sandwich

It’s sad but real Whole Foods are more expensive.

How about they allow them to use fats like they did in the 70s instead of having to add sugar so everything doesn't taste like cardboard.

They fats contributed to coronary disease but I have to imagine that the sugars and resulting obesity are far worse for coronary disease.

This is just not reality. A couple pounds of chicken breast costs less than a frozen pizza. Vegetables to make a fresh salad with cost less than a bag of chips or a box of macaroni and cheese. Saying…but the healthy food is so much more expensive!!!…is bullshite perpetuated by fat people as an excuse for being fat.

Unfortunately, along with poor and fat, you also get lazy. Prep time for that chicken and salad aren’t acceptable when you can just throw a frozen pizza in the oven and eat some chips until it’s done.
