It really depends what you're comparing them to.
In the grocery store, whole foods are not at all more expensive than the aisle trash. But yes, a prepared healthy food item is often more expensive than a dollar menu item or gas station dog.
Still, SNAP covers grocery items. Not fast food or gas stations. So there's really no legitimate excuse for not buying healthy whole foods at the store.
