Bruh y’all need to relax on the politics. The pope has no power in a countries policies. If countries are letting in immigrants it was happening already with or without the popes approval.

Joe Biden is Catholic.

Catholic groups under his leadership helped lead an invasion of our country.

I think they were just surprised and not disappointed, looking back at it. I dont think his name was what they expected

All smart arse remarks aside I agree the Church needs to but out of how sovereign states control their immigration and borders and Francis irritated me to no end about that.

FYI, the pope is a political position.

Don’t know if he is or not but there have been several allegations of it under him here and in Peru I guess. First thing I looked for knowing nothing about the guy and him being from here.

I would be nervous as frick as well. There are more than 1.4 billion Catholics on earth, meaning he leads more people than any single person in the history of the planet.

Gasps of surprise perhaps. I think that reaction can be expected no matter what name was announced.

I think it’s completely logical for religious leaders to say everyone should have open borders. Makes complete sense based on the teachings of Christ

I think it’s also completely logical for actual leaders of countries to not give a shite what they say

It won't be long before lefties in the US start blasting him.

"Pope Leo is anti-choice!"

Since when has English been the lingua franca of the church?

It sounds like this pope will continue that policy

I’m all for helping the poor, but the Catholic Church in the US has been paid to essentially aid and abet illegal aliens on behalf of the federal government

I love how everyone glosses over the fact that Francis was a Jesuit who made a vow of poverty. Not wearing fancy clothing is in line with that vow.

Thankful for this! Was getting tired of them electing dudes pushing 80…

John Paul II was 58 when he took over the Papacy & had it for nearly 30 years

kind of a back & forth the Cardinals go through

Elect a young Pope b/c you don't want another "year of 3 popes"

Have near 30 year Papacy

Elect an older Pope next b/c you don't want 1 person in the position for that long... leaving the church almost completely in that Pope's image

Get an 8 & 12 year Papacy... now go back to a younger (comparatively speaking) pope to maybe have a longer Papacy again

You know the Catholic Church got billions of dollars from the US govt to help illegals live in this country, right?

Guess how many live illegally in Vatican City

The Pope’s involvement/control over Catholic Charities is non-existent.

It would be nice to just have a break for a few minutes about whether he is a "globalist cuck" or "commie."
