I was basically saying that while that may have been the case at the time, today most people in east Tennessee, if asked, would be on the pro confederate flag and not tearing down statues side of the aisle, but I think you knew that already.

You're right, they were just rioters on a larger scale.

Actually we lost due to a freaking unseen fence that was over a little ridge. During Pickett’s charge a substantial part of the advance were stopped dead on their tracks and unable to support the advance, as they were easy targets as they tried to climb over the fence, and eventually just stopped. The rebel flag was raised on the ridge, but was not reinforced due to this mishap and were driven back.

Game, set and match. War lost. Stupid fence

Literally the most overrated inconsequential folklore battle in history.
Them LA, TX, FL, TN and AR baws were fighting in the Western theater against fellow tough cornfed countrymen from the midwest while the fancy pants zouves and virginia pansy’s were prancing around in the easter theater from 61 to late 63 when things finally got intertwined .. Also the Texas brigade made of Texans and Georgians fought like hell and suffered hell in the first ‘invasion’ during the antietam campaign in fall of ‘62. It was still a draw and a strategic loss as they withdrew back south again.
The Fort Donelson, Vicksburg, Chattanooga, and Atlanta campaigns determined the war bc they actually were campaigns for the supply lines. Those were fought by the ‘boys’ you mention in your title.
Sorry for your loss.
The war was lost for the CS the minute DC wasn’t captured in the early summer of 1861 when left unprotected just before the Massachusetts reserves arrived. Even then it would’ve been reunited after another lengthy conflict.
The western theater troops > easter theater troops and battles.
Change my mind.

Fun fact: the university greys which were composed of the male students at ole miss, and I believe all the Greek population which was sigma chi, phi psi and maybe delta psi where in vanguard of Pickett’s charge and suffered an almost 100% casualty rate, killed or wounded. There used to be a monument to this behind the basketball stadium

I'm sorry, but Gettysburg wasn't lost on the 3rd day. I mean, technically speaking...yes. It was lost on the 1st and 2nd days. Pickett's charge was a last-ditch effort that everyone basically knew was a crazy longshot. Kinda like the team that's down by 2pts and a player tosses up a prayer shot at the buzzer after receiving the in-bound pass on their side of the court. EXTREMELY SLIM chance.

Camp Douglas?

"Camp Douglas, in Chicago, Illinois, was one of the largest Union Army prisoner-of-war camps for Confederate soldiers taken prisoner during the American Civil War."

Lee lost. He invades Pennsylvania and then commits his army all over the place. There is a group going to Harrisburg, there is a group further East. You have Stuart galavanting around. The you attempt to take the axle in a wagonwheel(Gettysburg) by sending your men uphill in a battle.....not once, but twice both times with disasterous results. Picketts charge against the center, uphill and in the open was .....stupid.

Lee should have called Grant for pointers

Let me see, if the South wins...

At some point the white population would've been outnumbered by the black population. Such was the case in Mississippi in 1940. No problems there. A guerilla or insurrection movement in started by abolitionists would probably have begun.

South was poorly industrialized. Economically it would have fallen way behind the North. Germany was the most industrialized country in Europe. Need I say more?

Agricultural society's fare poorly over the long haul. Education and innovation tend to be poor.

States Rights

Which of course hinged on slavery and its expansion. Southern planters and political class wanted the "right" to form slave states in western territories and then got mad when someone told them no....or in the case of Kansas lost a vote, attempted and succeded in bussing in people from Missouri to vote.

Camp Douglas, dumbass. Death rate of nearly 20% for Confederate POWs, very much in Chicago.
