Recently, Youtuber VoyageATX took his Cybertruck off-roading. This wasn’t just some instance of taking a Cybertruck into a dirt field and calling it a day. VoyageATX took the truck to a dedicated off-road park called Hidden Falls Adventure Park in Marble Falls, Texas.

VoyageATX was with two other friends: one in a Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness and the other in a current-gen Toyota 4Runner.

VoyageATX said the Cybertruck handled the light trails just fine, until it came to a certain incline. He mentioned that he could have taken one that wasn’t as steep that was right next to it. But his inexperienced, 4Runner-driving friend handled it with no problem. When it was VoyageATX and the Cybertruck’s turn, it failed miserably. The wheels spun while gaining no traction and it just rolled back.

Even carrying decent speed couldn’t get the truck up the incline. Airing down the tires helped it get a bit farther than before, but it still couldn’t make it. The Crosstrek handled everything that was thrown at it, however including the incline that the Cybertruck failed to get up. The Crosstrek Wilderness performed so well even VoyageATX had to give it props at the end of the video for proving that you don’t have to spend big money to get something that can handle itself off-road.

Well that Tesla truck is probably twice as heavy that the Subaru so my guess that may have something to do with it.

Means squat. Wheelbase, tires, track width etc are all a factor off-road.

But it can take a gunshot or arrow to the side without penetrating the cabin.
I like me some Elon but this thing was a big mistake.
Glad he has money to absorb it.
Not only is it ugly but its cumbersome and doesn’t have near the ease of use most F150 owners with truck nuts need.

The obsession with tearing down the Cybertruck is baffling to me.

Yeah, Subaru's are impressive in tough conditions. We have an Outback, and I've never driven a better vehicle in snow.

Didn't watch but I would bet the Subaru would best any 4 wd pickup other than a Tacoma off road and might best a newer Tacoma. Pickups are generally lousy offroad vehicles compared to SUVs, especially mid size and smaller SUVs. Never been a truck that could outdo a CJ or Wrangler off road...

No comment on the Cybertruck, but I’ve never felt more confident in uncertain conditions (not full out rock crawling) than in a Subaru.

They’ve got plenty of issues with the weird boxer engine, overly aggressive eyesight technology, and stubborn obsession with CVT transmissions, but the AWD is second to none in snow, ice, gravel, mud etc. for just about everyone’s needs.

Big heavy trucks aren't really any good off-road. You can see this anytime you want at the Spillway where you have Jeeps dragging diesel baws out of mud holes. My soccer mom mobile GX would run circles around most trucks offroad.

Um, that’s because the GX is a fancy Landcruiser Prado, one of the best out body on frame SUV’s out there. There’s nothing “mommy-mobile” about that. Now a Tahoe or Yukon on the other hand, yea that’s a mommy-mobile.

Is a Cybertruck supposed to be a good off-road vehicle?

I would think due to its weight, that it would not be.

My dad in high school buried his CJ-5 regularly and would get embarrassed when my grandfather would pull him out of the mud with his AWD Suburu

You’d be surprised at those things off road capability

But can the Suburu plow through 1000 yards of 3’ water without stalling?

Yep, but most people don't know that. I always shock my buddies at the ranch.
