Is this one of the reasons why Starbucks is leaving Washington?
I mean higher corporate taxes.

Well one of the partners in my orthopedic group just said he and his wife (anesthesiologist) are moving to Texas. I like in SW Washington.

I feel bad for him honestly, glad my wife isn’t a doctor as well.

That’s the thing. This is only going to hurt the middle and lower class. The upper class will just leave because they can. The elected officials that passed this are skimming government money through fraud anyway, so they aren’t bothered.

They always say the same thing when power shifts, “the rich will flee.” They said it when Mamdani won in New York. They say it now about Seattle. But just watch. The prophecy never comes to pass.

Wealth does not abandon beauty so easily. Seattle sits between the sea and the mountains, crowned by the Cascades and wrapped in forests and water. The wealthy did not gather there by accident.

People who can choose anywhere rarely abandon places of rare beauty for places that only pretend to have it.

They'll still keep a house in the area but they will no longer be considered a WA resident.

I feel like your'e a bot or an alter or something. Because what you've suggested in this thread is some of the dumbest shite I've seen on this board.

You already know this, but regardless...anything jump out at you about these two lists?

Well, that isn’t true.

Just because ALL of them don’t leave doesn’t mean that a substantial number doesn’t leave.

Major newspapers have been writing articles about these movements for a while now.

Meh, the morons who support this always wonder why did this happen after voting for those who don’t care about them.

Stupid is as stupid does, perpetually.

He's like the Biden administration. "Hey, that thing you see happening, which can be proven by statistics and anecdotal evidence galore, yeah, that's not really happening so you're wrong"

ETA: for example...

quote:

According to analyses by Henley & Partners / New World Wealth and related reporting:

Chicago had roughly ~120,000–130,000 millionaires in recent years.

The city experienced a noticeable decline and slow growth in wealthy residents compared with other U.S. cities over the last decade.

One estimate cited in wealth-migration analysis says about 39,600 high-net-worth individuals left Chicago after 2021 (including millionaires and above).

LINK

quote:

Among the 50 states and Washington, D.C., that's the lowest ratio of affluent people coming to going, which is to say Illinois is the worst at keeping affluent people in the state.

It's the latest data point in the long-running story of Illinois losing people not only because of its rough winters but because of high taxes and crime. In April, Attom, a property information service, reported that Illinois again had the highest effective property taxes in 2023 at 1.88% of value.

quote:

A chart in the report shows Illinois with the worst record of retaining people who make $200,000 or more per year and, probably just as unsurprising, Florida with the best. For every $200,000-plus earner who leaves Florida, two and three-quarters move in.

The lost income in Illinois from all out-migration, not just high earners, was about $9.85 billion in recent years, according to earlier IRS data. Based on individual tax returns filed in 2021 and 2022, the IRS reports about $19.38 billion in adjusted gross income left the state and about $9.58 billion moved in, for a net loss of $9.85 billion.

Could go on and on with this for lots of blue states. But again, we all know what's happening.

Sure. What does that have to do with claims that Starbucks HQ is moving out of state?

I don’t think you can. Supposedly, this is in household income. But remember, this is in adjusted gross income.
