A restaurant whose owners have been placed on a death list for depicting Muhammad.

And they have tried to piss off every group in the world.

There is a documentary about the renovation of the restaurant on Paramount+.

Matt Stone and Trey Parker bought this run down place in Denver. Dumped millions and millions in it to bring it back. They did a SP episode on it. Google the place.
didn't they just sign on for a few more seasons of South Park that will pay over a billion. Don't think they are hurting for money

Matt Stone and Trey Parker didn’t actually buy it until 2021, so I’m sure that’s when its popularity really blew up.

That makes sense

It used to be my on premise account for wine and liquor back in the day. I’m talking 30 years ago. Sold the hell out of tequila and white zin. One of the kitschiest places in America.

I’ve been. Unless their operating expenses are insane, they are making money hand over fist.

You can snag reservations day-of. People get on the waitlist and forget about it so there are tons of cancellations. I’ve done it twice in the last few months when we have friends in town.

Casa Bonita was the best place to have birthday parties growing up in the Denver area.

It’s iconic. The food has always borderline sucked but everything else is great. Now I want some sopapillas

What’s great at a Mexican restaurant outside of the food? They have a band and what not?

I really don’t see how you screw up Mexican to the point it’s bad. It’s like 80% prep and 10% cooking, throw in 10% for presentation or whatever.

I have eaten the hell out of a Pancho's Buffet back in the day. And would still if they were around. But, if we're being honest, it was not exactly high-end Tex-Mex.

That's incredible. They normally only live about 10 years in the wild.

We just went a few months ago. The food was a lot better than I expected. Wasn’t high end dining but that isn’t what you go for. We had a good time there and wish we had more time to spend and check it out.

My husband has very fond memories of going when he was young. We watched the documentry of Matt and Trey buying and restoring it. I think the original budget was about $6M (purchase price of $3.1M). They put $40M in to it.My husband said it was well-known that the food sucked, but, like you said, it was all about the experience (cliff-divers, caves to explore, etc.)
