Nashville is also 2.5x the size of BR yet still less violent.

BR is a shithole

Sorry, 3x the size

ETA: didn't notice it's per capita. scratch that...BR is a little less of a shithole, but more than the other SEC schools.

Isn't the BR population less than a quarter million? Hardly a big city, we all know the issue, just can't say it. ??

It's a little misleading because of our annexation laws. The urban area is probably closer to 300-350k. You can be in an area that everyone considers to be BR but it's technically not in the city limits (St George)

I'd like to see the crime rate for Baton Rouge divided into 2 numbers: what is is North of Florida Blvd, and what it is South of Florida Blvd.

Crime is higher in NBR but that "north of Florida" moniker is far less true in 2023 than it was 25 years ago.

Nashville is probably 30% black.

Right. What’s BR, 60% or so at this point?

Roughly 55% black, 35% white, 10% other.

Knoxville at the top is also a surprise. I definitely feel safer there than BR, but I reckon that's just a result of being in the "right places".

The Knoxville city lines are much closer to the downtown area than what you’d expect. And the city itself contains areas of East Knoxville that probably disproportionately affect the violent crime rates.

Nashville is a real city. But what does Baton Rouge have going on? Murders? It's a shithole.

Impressive with Tuskegee University 25 min away. Back those dipshits out and it’s even better. The coolest apts. now in AU will be the cheapest and overrun in 10 years by…well…you know.

What’s surprising isn’t that Baton Rouge is high, but that Nashville is so high.

Are those city stats, county/parish stats or metro area stats?

Wow, at a million people Austin will be by far the largest sec school city when they finally join. Not surprising they are a commuter school now I guess
