Video of how this US soldier drove his convoy in Iraq

LINK
Was this how they always drove their convoys over there? I would be very nervous the whole time wondering which one of these cars is going to try to attack us.

Yeah. That’s how we did it. Get one chance to get out the way before you’re run off the road. What you’re seeing is nerves and survival mode. Lucky they were given a chance at all.

Yeah, that’s what it looked like. Better to dent a few cars than allow the mob to descend on you and have to shoot your way out.

I was surprised at how many of them didn’t realize it was coming until they got the love tap.

Also, Iraqi baw in the tractor at the end of the video.

Those military Hummers seem like they are running in low gear all the time. That transmission was humming.

Roadside IED's and car bombs made this a different war. I can't imagine facing that every day.

That’s why they were given a chance. Still had to maintain good relations with locals. That video was from early on before they understood to get out the way or else.

Similar situation in Afghanistan. Came up on a slow passenger car and gave him one opportunity to clear our path. Did not get out of the way.

Then he got a taste of some LMTV.

Absolutely.
Don’t stop or pause.
It was different then. Wasn’t that long ago, even though it was.

I remember rolling through traffic like that in like 2006, but by the end of the surge, say 2008-2009, we were dismounting to clear traffic to get vehicles through.

We did it Strykers. Loved it.

Feel for you all in the HMMWV variants.

I was there 03-04. Saw a few cars get under the wheels of big trucks and get thrown to the side. Really had no choice. Didnt want to be stuck anywhere in traffic.

And people wonder why people in other countries hate Americans. Could you imagine some douche from another country doing that here? All for access to some natural resources and occupying an area that hasn't been occupiable in the history or man. If this is the only exposure they get to "real" Americans it is no wonder why people hate America.

When I worked in Nigeria this was how the armed escort drove to get us from the airport to the base in Port Harcourt.

Windows blacked out and no fricks given.
