I love Hank and I don't remember the details of him losing his MNF gig. I do remember Hank always being pretty right of center with his politics, so what?
Maybe someone can remember back further than me, but the first salvo over the bow in starting up this idiotic cancel culture was George Bush and the right going after the Dixie Chicks for saying the Iraq war was stupid. ( I hate seeing people getting punished for being right)
They didn't just lose one gig, it stopped their entire careers for a few years when they were on top.
Dixie Chicks weren't canceled, they decided to be very vocal about politics that 90+% of their fanbase vehemently disagreed with and they could no longer fill stadiums.
Their careers fell off a cliff because their former fans no longer liked them.
Getting canceled is, to me, losing your career when you're still really popular because the higher ups somewhere don't like the optics of keeping you. They cave to a vocal minority and media pressure.

That's ridiculous Catfish. You're saying cancel culture can only come from an employer.
A group of people who liked something a lot and then they decided to boycott it purely for political reasons is the very definition of cancel culture.
In this case it was cancel culture by a lot of their own fans, but it's still cancel culture.
A more recent example was the Bud Light debacle and there have been lots of other examples from both sides.
That's cancel culture dude.

The they dropped the Dixie from their name because "racism" and lost the rest of their fans...oh and they got fat.

Not just guitar.
I knew he played the fiddle because I heard Charlie Daniels say he was a pretty damn good fiddle player (pun kinda intended). On his guitar playing, I am not saying his skills are Eddie Van Halen level but he is up there and nobody really talks about Hank Jr. being an elite guitar player.

Below is a picture of Ajax Peak, where Williams fell in 1975. His injuries were gruesome, and saying he was lucky to survive is an understatement.
Long term, it was possibly the best thing for his career. It led to his signature look (hat, beard, dark glasses) as his music style became his own.
He would have been very successful either way, but I think he’s a larger cultural icon due to the aftermath of the accident than he would have been otherwise.

That's a technical route, not a hunter scouting for game route. He must have been drunk AF to get himself in that predicament.

Losing your fans because of something you did is just how the world works. It's business and that's been around forever. If Morgan Wallen had said "frick Trump" while wearing a Free Palestine shirt at a concert he'd lose his fans and career would suffer. Labels and venues canceled him (tried at least) when he did something his fans didn't care about. His album sales were still huge.
Getting fired or blacklisted for saying/doing something your fans don't really give a shite about is getting canceled.
Cancel culture to me is a very vocal minority and the media driving the cancellation of something/someone despite their fanbase/supporters not really caring. Losing your supporters is something different.
It's a pretty subjective thing to define, that's just how I see it.

No it is not. They are entertainers. They need fans to make money and be successful. They changed their product (their image is part of that) to something fans didn't like, so they lost most of their fans. What happend to the Dixie Chicks is not what anyone not retarded means when they say "cancel culture." If that were the case, then every artist who's had a fallout with their fans is a victim of "cancel culture."
That's just culture.

I wonder what Hank iii is up to these days
I hope he is doing well

That's just not factually accurate but you're not an honest participant in open discussion of information. You look at this forum as a debate where you try to come up with any distorted stat, lie, or opinion that supports your preconceived way of thinking in an attempt to "win the argument".
In other words, you're very boring.

The frick are you talking about? Your projection is the opposite of reality. I've changed my mind on things during arguments on this forum lots of times, and I have no issue with being wrong. But you can posture all you want and whine about something being "not factually accurate" without providing any substance... but that just makes you a weak person who's too afraid to defend things that they post.

Saw him live several times in the 90s and he would get the band to start on a Hank Sr. song like Kawliga, and Jr. would rotate through playing guitar, steel, drums, pretty much every instrument on stage.
He still does this. Saw him about 7 years perform live

Pre-Musk this is what they used Twitter for. They would basically act like Twitter outrage and tweets going viral were valid public opinion polls that a business should follow knowing their ilk controlled the message. Antifada or other leftists would get used when actual people were needed on the scene for visuals of the outrage to push on old media as well as for algorithmic controlled trends on social media. Leftist hedge funds would also apply carrot/stick approach to pressure companies not directly under a Dem or leftist control which was particularly effective during shutdowns with companies fighting for survival and the hedge funds buying up cheap stock of companies they wanted to gain some influence over after the initial collapse of stock prices with covid.

My best friend's grandmother & Ms Audrey (a nut) were neighbors & good friends growing up in Bama. I've got to sit on his tour bus a time or two, among other things.

The man has basically been wearing a disguise for 50 years
Does anyone even remember about 15 years ago (might be more or less than that) Hank showed up at the Saints facility during the season?
They gave him a tour, he took pictures with players and management, etc. Wearing the cowboy hat, jeans, sunglasses, big belt, buckle, etc.
It was on the local news and in the newspaper too
Couple days laters someone from the Saints contacted Hank’s management and it turned out it wasn’t him.

He can play guitar, fiddle, banjo, piano, bass, drums and steel guitar very fluently
It’s kinda insane. I saw a documentary somewhere on him a couple years back. I’d go would venture to say he could be in the top 10 most talented musicians to ever do it just on him playing his instruments and playing them very well. A lot of people don’t know that, they just listened to his party songs.
Bango
Piano

Dinosaur is an all timer.
It’s a deep cut but any true jr fan absolutely knows this one by heart.

Here is Hank playing banjo and singing with Alabama live. Have always loved this version of the song. Hank is just wailing on the banjo.
