If memory serves he was significantly disfigured and wore a beard to cover scars

This was after. At the time that should have been a wig as they were still doing more and more surgeries

Fun fact: Hank Sr. wanted to marry Anita Carter but Maybelle wouldn't let them because he was too wild. Johnny would have been Hank Jr's uncle by marriage.

Jr looks a lot like his dad/son before. I always thought his son looked exactly like Hank Sr and nothing like him

Have a lifelong friend who was a band member with em and another friend whose brother played with Willie....
There was some amazing talent there.
Willie used to write songs for Johnny..who encouraged him to launch out on his own and not just write for others.

The beard and the glasses.
Check out his autobiography, it worth reading. Explains a lot of the pressure he felt being Sr's son and that crazy mother of his.
