By all accounts, this POS had no talent or skill in the business he was trying to succeed in. He was crazy, and that crazy spilled over into his professional life repeatedly.

How, then, does a guy like this get hired multiple times? Why did it take so long for him to be let go?

I have experienced a workplace so scared of being sued that they tolerated borderline outrageous behavior from a black employee. Unexplained absences, no follow up, erratic comments and actions in meetings, etc. Finally the guy just quit. Bonus, the VP who hired him confided in me that he felt like he "needed to hire a black or hispanic" this time around. So he hires this recent grad of Prairie View A&M....just a useless, crazy person.

Did political correctness and Affirmative Action contribute to this event?

Someone else is listening to Rush today

To answer your question, yes. Especially telling, once his employment reviews were released

That's exactly what I was wondering. He either put on a good interview face, or he had connections, or maybe race did have something to do with him being hired (not the whole reason, but a small reason).

Hopefully this kind of stuff will be the death knell for affirmative action and quotas.

TV journalism is a shite profession that has lots of turnover on entry level jobs. It's no surprise they'll take whoever applies.

Almost correct. It is a shite profession with lots of entry level turnover. But they still won't take EVERYONE who applies. They will take a less talented minority hire over a more talented non-minority almost every time, though.

The reason for this is unlike many industries, the diversity of a TV newsroom is highly visible. The audience WILL notice if there are no minority reporters or anchors on air.

TV news is DESPERATE for minority on air talent, everywhere you go.

That was my thought yesterday. Glad to hear someone else thinking along those lines too.

And here's why they keep getting rehired; when someone calls for a reference, you can't say anything bad or you can get sued.

Whoever else said this shite is absurd is 100% correct.

Local TV news doesn't really pay all that much so its most likely he kept getting hired b/c he was willing to work long arse hours for shite pay.

As I said in another thread...some people hide behind their protected status. They know that they can be as shitty of an employee as they want, because they believe that there's little that their employer can or will do about it. And in a lot of cases, they're right.

And quite frankly, as long as we have protected classes, this will always be the case.
