The reason for this is unlike many industries, the diversity of a TV newsroom is highly visible. The audience WILL notice if there are no minority reporters or anchors on air.
TV news is DESPERATE for minority on air talent, everywhere you go.
I'm in a white area and that's false. I've known some blacks that got turned down and i've seen some terrible white reporters, anchors. This county is not even 2% black. So every black that applies at one of the three T.V. stations here should get hired right. LOL.

1. talk about a recent tragedy
2. make up some bullshite story that closely resmebles the characteristics of the criminal that committed the tragic deed.
3. ask some stupid arse question to find something to point blame somewhere else other than the sick individual.
This is no different then black people blaming Dylan Roof's action on that shitty flag.

Ya, while it may be possible that diversity hiring in this field may have contributed to him getting jobs in the field despite his lack of talent, this guy was going to shoot somebody some day because he was fricking nuts regardless of occupation.
I suppose the only "contribution" was it gave him access/the idea to do the shooting live on air, but as we all saw, he was going to make sure it was filmed anyways having his own camera so even that is tenuous at best.

Well that isn't always true at all.
At least in the market I worked in they always took whoever was cheapest.
The station I was at hired a white dude that was clearly a meth head and it took him threatening the chief photographer multiple times and flat out going AWOL w/a news van for about 4 hours one day to get fired. The dude worked for cheap as hell though so he got a million chances to get his shite together.
