You know what you don't see in all that footage? Fat people. They have a much healthier culture over there. We should walk more.

I'd put my money on Russia. Cuba ain't far enough. Assuming they actually oust him, which if conditions are as bad as what is advertised on the internet's I dont see how they fail.

Actually I just saw one but for the most part, you're right. The problem isn't no food, it's no money.

At first the Venezuelan people willingly gave away power. Then when it was too late and gone, Maduro consolidated his power via military appointments, south American mercenary fighters and the Russian government. So yes, you are correct that it didnt all happen via the Venezuelan people.

My point was that if you continue to allow your freedoms to be chipped away, eventually they will be all gone and this is where you end up.

Guaido is actually the rightfully elected leader of Venezuela

He wasn't elected to be their President. He is the President of their National Assembly. He declared himself acting President of Venezuela and was backed the National Assembly.

So is it Guaido and the people of Venezuela vs Maduro and the military? I’ve seen videos of what looks like soldiers fighting other soldiers and was confused.

I think it's Guaido & military vs. Maduro & other military. Some of the army is loyal to Maduro; some to Guaido.

Guaido and the National Assembly passed a law (or made a declaration, I forget which) that says any military who come over to his side will be pardoned.

Usually their National Assembly is very fragmented but many of the smaller parties and political groups have banded together to form a majority that is backing Guaido.

Part of the reason they are rebelling is Maduro moved the election up several months and was able to ban a few of the opposition parties from running for various reasons which may or may not have been legitimate (I honestly have no idea and I'm sure arguments can be made from both sides). They say between that and what they claim are voting irregularities the election (which Maduro did win w/67% of the vote) is null and void. The Venezuelan Supreme Tribunal of Justice has declared those actions unconstitutional.

A rough equivalent to our system would be like if Congress and the Speaker of the House declared the election was void and was taking over while the Supreme Court backed the President's legitimacy based on constitutional law.
