She apologized. Wouldn't it be the Christian thing to do to forgive her and NOT call the local news?
Just because she is forgiven in no way means that she will also escape being held accountable for her actions.
Does your religion teach you that, if you are forgiven, that you escape all consequences of your bad behavior?

After further review, I'll chalk this up to a misunderstanding of religious/cultural rituals. I'm going to provide her with sensitivity training and a couple spankings

I attend the Holy Church of Steve Perry.
We believe that the consequences should be between the school officials and the teacher. Whoever called the media knew what they were doing.

Looks like he went back and got more ashes before calling the local news crew.

William said he received a handwritten apology and candy from his teacher.
She should have given him some chocolate-covered Communion wafers.

Should've unzipped and said "I thought you said handy. Oh well, they're already off."

What level of discipline do you believe is required here?

I would think even in Utah, Mormons know what Ash Wednesday is.

It's only fair to have the spanking administered by a Catholic.

Not surprised since their iPhones didnt have it pre-marked on their calendars like other religious days.

Are they hiring 14 year-olds to teach 4th graders now?

While I agree with what you’re trying to say, as other have said a conservative teacher offending a gay/trans/Muslim kid all resulted in their career death.
Sucks but it has to go both ways if we are at the point of ruining everyone’s life for a simple screw up like we seem to be.
