How would it be illegal?
A school system, determine the mental health status of a child…without parental consent?
Are you serious?

There are mental health screenings in school?
Since when?
How is that legal?
Since the 90s. School is actually one of the best places for children to get screenings and treatments.

That's not how it works. Any mental health screenings done in school are done by qualified health professionals - which are defined by state law/regulation and parents give consent for any treatment done within a school based setting. It's not a free-for-all.

Don't be obtuse. You know damn well it's not being used in the way these mentally ill attention seekers are trying to use it. "Non-binary" is complete and other made up poppycock

Police said the ninth grader from Canyon View Junior High shot themselves while on a field trip at South Fork Park. That student was flown to a local hospital, where they died.
Well that mystery was easy to solve.

These don’t happen - full stop.
If a parent has their child diagnosed with a mental health condition via a PRIVATE physician, then that diagnosis can lead to Mental Health Professionals (MHP’s) being staffed in order to assist with situational concerns.
Students are NOT given mental health “screenings” in public schools.
If I am wrong, prove me wrong.

Nearly one-third of K-12 public schools in the United States now require mental health screening for students, but ensuring that they receive adequate follow-up care after a diagnosis is often much harder, concludes a recent study from RAND, a nonprofit research organization.
The study, based on a nationally representative survey of 1,019 K-12 public school principals conducted in October 2024, found that 30.5% of respondents said their school required screening students for mental health problems. If a student is identified as having anxiety or depression, most principals reported their school typically notifies their parents (79%), offers in-person treatment (72%), and/or refers the student to a local mental health care professional (53%), according to the report. Less than 20% offer telehealth treatment.

So far, only two states have laws that provide funding and resources for schools to implement mental health screenings. Illinois is the first state to require schools to offer universal mental health screening for students in grades 3-12. New Jersey has a grant program for schools to provide mental health screenings.

Thanks for the link.
I stand corrected.
I still don’t understand how mental health screenings can be legally mandated.
That seems like an EXTREME invasion of privacy…especially for minors.

I am sorry but that article was poorly written. Was the person ever identified? Why couldn't he or she be used?
