The United States Postal Service has suspended services in one neighborhood in Santa Monica, California, because of repeated attacks on mail carriers since January, according to a report.

The notice explained that "multiple carriers have been subjected to assaults and threats of assault from an individual who has not been located or apprehended."

So assault is bad enough, but I'm pretty sure interfering with the mail is a federal crime.

Maybe they should switch to fee-mail carriers.

None of this would happen if Trump wasn't so racist and we had universal health care and open borders and LGBTQ+ grooming in grade school.

Damn you straight white males and your privilege!

The (likely) homeless attacker is just taking out his anger on environmental injustice.

Or someone is just pissed that the USPS lost their mail repeatedly.

No, none of the victims of these multiple attacks saw anyone.

I am not certain but i am pretty sure that Santa Monica does not have any neighborhoods that can be considered hoods. My guess is aggressive unhoused population.

The police know the criminal quite well, and know his address. He apparently likes domestic battery better than mail theft.

Someone has to agree to press charges on him.

Maybe the Postmaster General will send orders down the food chain to dispatch a postal sniper.

Whoa, whoa, whoa .......... although I haven't been in a couple years, Santa Monica is (used to be?) my go to beach in the LA area.

Don't tell me they've fricked that up for me.

Good.

quote:

"I feel a lot of compassion for the mail carriers," she added. "Not doing anything is not the solution."

Then what is the solution? Whatever it is, it isn't USPS' mess to fix. How they can be shamed for protecting employees is beyond me.

People complain about things of this nature, businesses not investing in communities, white flight, etc. all while expecting someone to fix the mess. The mess in this case, from reading the article, is homelesness.

Newsflash to the good people who inhabit that area, the mess will not be fixed. Nobody is coming for you. Get out and get around like minded people or be prepared to take on the world solo.
