To be fair, if he DIDN'T jump out of the window, there's a solid chance that he'd have been shot to death by the end of his vacation anyway. Statistically speaking he probably took a bullet or two on the way down.

It's unlikely we'll ever know if this is what happened. If they were roughousing and he was pushed against the window that then broke unexpectedly we would never know because the only people who can corroborate any story are ones who were in the room and may or may not have had a role.
