Reminds me of the Toronto attorney that did something similar:

I've done some incredibly dumb stuff when drunk in college. Broken ankle, stitches, bar fight or three, but this is above and beyond.
This makes me wonder why his friends didn't stop him. This isn't like trying to break a beer bottle over your head (been there). This is trying to kill yourself.

I didn't say it wasn't stupid, I said he was just clowning around and had no intention of actually knocking the glass out and jumping into the pool. It was an accident. A very preventable accident, but still an accident.
In my opinion, if this guy thought there was even the most remote chance of actually knocking the glass out, he wouldn't have been banging his shoulder against it.
