Using auto pilot on a Tesla is a killer

Fake news trying to scare people. This is like cruise control on a Tesla. This is not the full self drive that drives better than 99% of people.

I highly doubt he was even using lane assist, let alone FSD.
But I suppose we'll see.

So the driver tells the cops the car was on auto pilot when it crashed into the house and you claim it is fake news?

Ask the dead woman's relatives for their opinion.

The real silent nemesis is FSD being a left lane hog.

Maybe let it all play out and see what happened?
There's cameras everywhere on that car, they'll know.

Autopilot isn't Full Self Driving.
FSD is one of the greatest advancements in vehicle history IMO. People don't realize how much of a safety improvement it is unless they read the data

I agree. The police will know. The data can be downloaded and know what the car was doing.

Again, you’re just feeding into the fake news. Auto pilot is NOT full self drive!

Naw, FSD is better at camping in the left lane than 99.999% of people.
All bitching about FSD aside, the inability of people to merge at anywhere near a highway speed fricks up I-10E for about four miles, 18 hours a day, isn't due to FSD. Cane Island on ramp, I'm talking about you. All ... goddamned ... day.

I am certainly not going to buy in 100% to the “truth” of someone who just drove into a house and killed a lady.
I hope the police didn’t wait on getting a blood test on the driver while they talk to people about Tesla.
Autopilot doesn’t take over. It’s pretty minimal
quote:
Autopilot
Traffic-Aware Cruise Control: Matches the speed of your vehicle to that of the surrounding traffic
Autosteer: Assists in steering within a clearly marked lane, and uses traffic-aware cruise control
Full Self-Driving Capability
Auto Lane Change: Assists in moving to an adjacent lane on the motorway when indicator is engaged by driver
Navigate on Autosteer (Beta): Actively augments Auto Lane Change by providing guidance to the driver to transit motorway’s on-ramp to off-ramp, including suggesting lane changes and navigating interchanges
Autopark: Helps parallel or perpendicular park your vehicle, with a single touch
Dumb Summon: Moves your vehicle in and out of a tight space using the mobile app
Actually Smart Summon: Navigates more complex environments and parking spaces, maneuvering around objects as necessary to come find you in a car park within your direct vicinity
Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control (Beta): Identifies stop signs and traffic lights and slows your vehicle to a stop on approach, with your active supervision
Upcoming:
Autosteer on city streets
The currently enabled Autopilot and Full Self-Driving Capability features require active driver supervision and do not make the vehicle autonomous. Full autonomy will be dependent on achieving reliability far in excess of human drivers as demonstrated by billions of miles of experience, as well as regulatory approval, which may take longer in some jurisdictions. As Tesla’s Autopilot and Full Self-Driving Capabilities evolve, your vehicle will be continuously upgraded through over-the-air software updates.

Well, duh.. what was the dipshit going to say? Man I just crashed right into that house. It’s all my fault.

Mine doesn’t do this. Drove from Charlotte to Greenville with it 100% and it used it to pass only.

When “Blondie’s” Yukon was in for 6.2L engine recall inspection, they had a Hummer SUT EV in CTP, so it was loaned to me. Had GM’s SuperCruise, and that was pretty neat using it on the interstate…

quote:
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has escalated an investigation into Tesla’s “Full Self-Driving” systems
quote:
The probe into Tesla’s FSD is looking into possible safety defects that make it risky for drivers to use in fog, glaring sun or other “reduced roadway visibility conditions.”
quote:
The agency wrote that Tesla FSD may sometimes fail: “to detect and/or warn the driver appropriately under degraded visibility conditions such as glare and airborne obscurants.”
quote:
In crashes reviewed by the agency, Tesla’s system “did not detect common roadway conditions that impaired camera visibility and/or provide alerts when camera performance had deteriorated until immediately before the crash occurred.”
The probe has been elevated to an “engineering analysis,” after a string of complaints about collisions in which FSD was in use within 30 seconds of a crash, including one in which a Tesla driver who was using FSD struck and killed a pedestrian.
Just have to know with their camera only approach you need to be aware that you can't rely on it in impaired visual environments. Looks like the NHTSA is going to force a recall which will force Tesla to disclose it to users

Well it’s clickbait at best.
Title should have read;
“Driver crashes Tesla into building, killing woman after being an idiot.”
The screen literally tells you what the car is (and implicitly is not) doing when you turn auto pilot OR Full Self Driving on. If you are using autopilot, the car is not driving itself.

Officer: “You have any drinks tonight?”
Drunk driver: “uggggg…no”
Officer: “OK. Everything checks out. You’re good to go”
