I had side effects, but supposedly its very rare with Provigil/Modafinil. Doc suggested I try Adrafinil, which is cheaper and doesn't require an Rx, but also has more side effects, in some people. I never tried the Adrafinil.

The precursor Adrafinil does have some side effects including stomach pain, skin irritation, anxiety, among others.

Modafinil is hit or miss with people. It keeps me awake, but that's it. And alot of people don't even get that effect. If you're expecting it to be in the same league as amphetamines, you're dreaming.
Also, 15 hour half life, so if you do respond to it, you better take it first thing in the morning or you ain't sleeping without help

I just ordered some of that powder. I NEED something to keep me on task at work, but I don't qualify for adderall, etc. and wouldn't want to be on that stuff all the time anyways.
I'll give this Adrafinil a try and see how my day goes.

I'm prescribed oxycodone because of my should injury. When I am on them, I've noticed my cognitive function is drastically lowered. Would Modafinil, or a precursor, still work with oxy in my system?
Edit: Also on Adderall, doesn't seem to work very well with the oxys though.

Works a little different for me. I actually have ADHD, so my chemical makeup is all messed up. It acts as a downer in my system. Percocet and Norco are actually bigger uppers for me than Adderall is.

BUMP to update:
So I got my powder in yesterday and tried it out this morning. Recommended dose is 300mg but to work your way up to it. I tried about 100mg.
I can 100% verify the effects of improved focus. I have been on point this morning, but with the news coming out this morning taking a smart drug was a terrible idea because for the last hour I've been focused on this breaking story!
Another Pro is that you don't get the buzz that comes with drugs like aderall and ritilin. It's nice and even and you aren't "tweeking" It's just plain focus..it allows you to get to work.
Of course, this adrafinil isn't a miracle drug. It's not going to turn your life around or anything.
But it's relatively cheap and does work. If your work is monotonous it's not going to vastly improve the scenario, it will just allow you to get it done in a timely manner.
Last note: I highly recommend getting a digital scale so you measure out these doses, it comes with a plastic utensil that will help you measure but that's no good way to do this and you don't want to screw this up. If I would have known how important this would have been I either wouldn't have ordered it at all or tried to find it in pill form. Things just get way too druggy when you're measuring up doses. Feels illegal even though it's not right now.

I take this. It sucks. Just makes you alert. Big headache if you do not drink enough water and increased my back pain. Do not recommend.

i took it for a little while awhile back, and i didn't see any noticable difference... in fact, while we were packing up the house, i threw out the rest of the script now that i think about it...
