Again, this is fricking stupid.
However, the PR impact of the WTs wins/advancement in the shitty women's "World Cup" and the less than stellar performance by the MT in the far more competitive real World Cup (including not even going 4 years ago) is what set this table.
The media has made a group of women that cannot beat a high school boys team very rich.

To be honest, I doubt the men care.
Their regular pay, their benefits, basically everything they actually get over the course of their career comes from their professional clubs. Not the USMNT. Think of big name NBA players like Shaq not playing for the US for fear of injury. His payday was never going to be with the US Olympic team, it was always with the Lakers.
The flip side for the women is the money brought in by the USSF through the USMNT and USWNT supports basically all of women's soccer. The only reason a women's pro league exists in the US is to be competitive in the Women's World Cup. Under the old deal, all their benefits, and a lot of their guaranteed pay was tied up in making it far in the USWNT and the Cup.
So yeah, it's incredibly dumb the way they're doing this revenue share, but the women still aren't making what the men will make because the big paydays come from the professional clubs, which don't exist for women. So I doubt the men cared.

Some of those women get more deals than bench riders or mls players. You don’t remember them holding up giant checks bragging about how much Hulu was paying them? When was Walker Zimmerman asked to pose nude in espn body magazine?
