Right. You make a bad argument, get called out on it, and I'm the one who doesn't see the forest through the trees...

I get your point -- you just used a bad argument.

So UCONN's women's basketball team should be paid billions if this is the basis of pay, correct?

UConn's Women's BBall team is already "paid" equally to the men's team.

Yes. You can't artificially make people more interested in something.

You're really living up to the Rummel part of your name. We're talking about comparing two different sports here. Your comment would be relevant if we were comparing two athletes in the same sport.

People would rather watch the men's team lose than watch the women's team win. That must suck for them, but I guess that's the way it goes.

Yeah, I'm not arguing who people would rather watch.

But one cannot use the argument that the women's team is not producing a good product. They can't go up against the men, so that's a moot point. Therefore, the only metrics you can use is how they've stacked-up against equal international competition. And, I would think everyone here would agree that they have far outpaced the men's national team with the international success that they've had.

Laughable. US men's team competes against vastly higher level of competition on the world stafe than the women do. Please tell the group what the Women's Cup generated in total revenue worldwide. I bet it doesn't even sniff at the more than $4 Billion the men's did. Context, you should figure out what that means.

And it still wouldnt make sense there. Anna Kournikova is one of the highest grossing female tennis players ever and she isnt even top 500 all time.

Assume a WNBA team had equal success as UCONN since you and Rummel clearly are only interested in semantics.

How are you entertained by watching the men lose to the likes of Guatemala?

No one is saying that. They are saying there is was less revenue when compared equally. And it's an undeniable truth.

How much money is made off of men's soccer? How much is made off of women's soccer?

Really don't think it's more complicated than that.

It's like they don't understand that there is so much more revenue on the men's side. I'm all for equal pay, but they aren't providing an equal service.

So back in the day the Houston Comets players should have been getting more money than the Houston Rockets, right?

Because they were threepeating and all. They were much more successful than the Rockets on the court.

The women get paid less than the men because they're less valuable in general. The only reason they made the US more money last year was because of a World cup. The other three years it won't even be close.

But which one brings in more viewers over a full revenue cycle,?including a WC in each cycle? What drives revenue? From what are pay rates derived?

The thing is.. the US Women's team actually is worth a shite and actually wins games while the men's squad is always fighting for life against teams like Guatemala, Mexico, Jamaica, etc.

The Arizona Rattlers are dominant in the Arena Football League and won the championship 3 years in a row from 2012-2014. No current NFL team comes close to their dominance. They are relatively better than almost every, if not every NFL team. They obviously put a better product on the field than the these NFL teams and should be paid more.

Just because they are better relatively, doesn't mean it's a better product or that they should be paid more. Pay has always been tied more to money generated, not success on the field.
