I was hurrying my post. But yeah they flooded the market and US producers responded by overall trying to match them. Alaweed sent that letter to the Saudi oil minister in September of 2014 and prices started to plummet. Did a real # on Lafayette back then. Freeport was working on a huge exploration project and by Christmas it was shut down

True, all the gas stations are colluding to lower gas prices for her.

Haven't you heard of the price gauging task force the government has? They sent them on major tasks just last month or 2..and what do you know, prices suddenly start coming down. Some of you need to do some research. I'm not even saying it's just a democrat thing, as the Republicans send them out in force when they are in office as well before an election.

Glad there’s someone like you around here to speak facts to the rhetoric people spew.

Also, people talk about imports and exports like it’s the government that’s doing it. In the US, our government is not the one importing or exporting. Companies like Exxon, chevron and refineries etc do it and they have every right to buy and sell as they please.

Fwiw- not all refineries are the same.

Also fwiw- trump never had any refineries built when he was president .

Yep- sure did. The O&G sector took a beating. It's improved but still hasn't gotten back to where it was prior

I thought this administration wants to get rid of fossil fuels?

Maybe over a very long horizon but clearly not in the near future

So why is gas so high per gallon at the pump

Gas is not oil.

Oil is a globally traded commodity. We aren't a Socialist economy where the government controls the oil industry. Traders buy the oil and sell it to people who refine it into gasoline... traders buy that gasoline and sell it. So it's vulnerable to market forces (scarcity, expectation of scarcity...).
