This article is such garbage - it certainly should not pass as any sort of actual science. It was done by a team of economists (Economists!!) with a lead author from the esteemed Bentley University.

The biased garbage that passes as science these days is unbelievable.

I love how on one hand this virus can be so easily spread that you must wear a mask when around other people at all times. But on the other hand we can “definitively say” that the virus was not spread in certain mass gatherings of people.

But you know what let’s run with that line. Have every media member and politician sign their name on it. Then let’s play some football this fall.

Also a big difference between 50 ppl in a bar and 10,000 ppl in a few city blocks. And why do we assume all the indoor activities are without masks and outdoor activities are with masks? Exactly. You would think if they had concluded on the protests, it would serve as some sort of finding. Like maybe encourage outdoor festivals or beach activities as they have been deemed safe. But no, it’s simply the protests that are harmless.

And we still have people that don’t think the media is completely biased and full of shite. Those people need to be asking themselves why would they be lying. Who does it benefit, who does it hurt.

Regardless of outdoors many were pushed together and shouting while not always wearing masks and definitely not wearing them correctly. Many young and then going to bars or other social gatherings and trips afterwards (especially the professional protesters).

If anyone in majority not protesting had concerns about social gatherings, parties, or travel the media's complete lack of concern about protesters and rioters spreading Wuhan both during and afterwards basically closed the door on Wuhan as a threat for these people after seeing the videos and pictures glorying their actions 24/7. Trying to back track with experts giving them a pass while still glorifying them and their actions didn't correct this but just reinforced it at a time when so many were waiting to get out and do something already.

Also in Texas there was a loosening of what it would take to be reported as positive. I thought it was more about contact tracing and trying to aggressively get on top of possible outbreaks starting June 1st with summer and less restrictions without waiting on test, but there doesn't seem to be any distinguishing between what was a positive before June 1st and what is after. I know it's not main cause of increase, but some were wondering about how increases just because of this change would be taken by public even before protests broke out.

I still can't believe Abbott made 20 the number of active cases in a county for mandatory masks to kick in. That's a drop in a bucket for some highly populated counties and even with less populated counties the cases could be more isolated already.
