Read other articles where other countries are beginning to draw down or close out their diplomatic presence in the country. Foreign citizens are being evacuated.
I can't wait to see what happens to our incredibly oversized embassy in Kabul once the Taliban move in.
The parallels to Vietnam in 1975 are crazy.

Agreed. They had nearly 20 years to get their act together. It was messy but Iraq has somewhat stabilized in the same amount of time.

More evidence that about three or four nukes would’ve saved us 20 fricking years and trillions of dollars. Dropping a few nukes on their asses right after 9/11 would’ve been easy to gather support for and I guarantee nobody would’ve messed with us for a generation.

Who didn't see this coming? The Taliban was always just going to wait it out and set up shop as soon as we left. That's been the plan since they realized shortly after the invasion there was no way they could win a shooting war. So they just blended in with the population and let a few outsider jihadists make some IEDs and take pot shots here and there. All the while, they were just waiting for the pull out.
