Lots of people crying fake news at any positive economy news.
When the whole word is a giant conspiracy, reality gets suspended including good news.
In fairness “doom wishing” is common on both sides of the political spectrum. That is, hoping for economic crashes so the guy with your tribe’s letter next to his name can win.

Because the month of Jan (just like last year when they claimed 800k jobs) uses crazy stats to create that. Seasonal adjustments, population control and new benchmarks the numbers are not legit. ADP doesnt match this, inital jobless claims rose this week
Everday we hear of big layoffs. Its crazy how easily manipulated libs are

How out of touch are you? Every month they release these rosy looking job numbers. Every month the media trumpets these numbers in big bold headlines. Then quiet, months later, the number is revised downward dramatically. They’re lying to us over and over and you’re still falling for it.
quote:
Between the downward adjustments for the monthly data and the semiannual benchmark, the number of jobs has been revised down by almost 700,000.
quote:
The revised estimate for gross domestic product in the second quarter of the year removed an eighth of the previously estimated growth, falling from 2.4% to 2.1%.
quote:
Perhaps the most notorious example this year has been the jobs numbers published by the Biden administration. Consider the newly released August jobs report. While the economy added 187,000 jobs last month, previous months were revised down by 110,000 jobs. That means 59% of the employment growth last month was jobs we thought we already had. In fact, every monthly employment report this year has been revised down, meaning the economy has been adding fewer jobs than initially believed. Worse, the Bureau of Labor Statistics published its semiannual benchmark revisions showing jobs were overestimated by more than 300,000.
quote:
Between the downward adjustments for the monthly data and the semiannual benchmark, the number of jobs has been revised down by almost 700,000. That’s 30% of the jobs initially estimated to have been added this year.
If Economic Growth Seems Too Good To Be True, That’s Because It Is

Yeah. Now look at the nation debt. USA economy is a house of cards propped up by trillion dollar government deficit spending.
One day it will all come crashing down.

I guess I see it from other views for the most part. Corporate profits continue to rise. Many sectors are still desperate to find employees. Unemployment is still pretty damn now in most areas of the country.
With all that being said, yes most of these jobs are low end and government so I admit it's not a completely rosy picture. And yes, things are going to trend down in the not too distant future.
I just have fun being contrarian to those who have been predicting a crash, fall off the cliff, doomsday crap, etc any day now for almost two years.

I’m curious how many “jobs” are actually low paying part time jobs that people are picking up to make ends meet.

Perhaps it’s because we see headlines like this constantly then quietly a few months down the road there will be a “revised” much smaller number released that shows the original story was full of shite.
Don't look at the December revision baw.

Yeh... I dont trust anything from the government anymore.
These are bogus numbers just like the polls suggesting Mr. Potato head is leading in the poolls.

Because historically big jobs generators like tech and finance are laying people off. Companies amongst numerous industries are cutting headcount so that they can maintain profitability targets set by Wall Street.

From an article last week.
But I'm sure the jobs report for January 2024 is legit and the economy is strong.
quote:
"The government quietly erased 439,000 jobs through November 2023, a closer look at the numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows."
"Today, U.S. labor force participation is at a historically low 62.5%."
"A record high 8.69 million people now hold multiple jobs to make ends meet. The economy lost 1.5 million full-time workers since June of last year, while adding 796,000 part-time workers."
But I'm sure the jobs report for January 2024 is legit and the economy is strong.
