Unfortunately for ole Trace...don’t think these folks are packing millions of limits like he is accustomed to.
Yeah, that ain't a Wal-Mart truck that hit him. At best, the other driver might have a couple hundred thousand in insurance.
This might be a case where the property damage/diminished value claim alone exceeds the insurance limits. How much does it cost to fix a few scrapes and dents on a $2 million car? Several thousand?

What even happens if you hit a $2 million car? Are you just screwed?
Your state minimum coverage from the General is going to pay the owner of the Bugatti $25,000 and that will pay for one turning signal lens cover.
Then you might be screwed.
If I were the owner of that Bugatti, though, I'd have had enough uninsured and underinsured motorist insurance on that car to cover for the poors and their shitty driving.

I feel bad for that Honda driver. Their poor arse didn't see it. TM really shouldn't be driving it around on busy city streets either that's kind of dick on his part.

Average cost is around $150k for all maintenance.
Hmm, I was thinking about buying one of these, but I think I'll pass if the maintenance is that high.
Oh well, I'll move on to my second choice - 2 year old 4-Runner (certified pre-owned of course).

What could they possibly be doing that requires $150k in maintenance every year for a car? Are they rebuilding it every year?
The car is built for speeds that require all kind of super expensive maintenance and parts. Those rims are only good for 3 tire changes then they have to be replaced. Doing any work is a complete nightmare. An oil change is 21k and takes 27 hours.

imagine side swiping a Bugatti in your fricking CRV?
Owner of CRV "Excuse me Geico but I've been in a bit of an accident."
Geico: "Tell me a bit about your accident. Are you hurt, is the other party hurt, what type of vehicle was involved?"
CRV owner "The car I hit was a Bugatti and the driver is in an ambulance complaining about hip pain. His name is Tracy Morgan."
Geico "The actor? and you hit a Bugatti?"
CRV Owner "Yes to both"
Geico "Sorry policy limits for you are 25k. You are now on your own"

Who the frick is stupid enough to drive a 2 million dollar car in NYC

Is that Ron Pearlman with him?
Posted on 6/4/19 at 4:07 pm to Covingtontiger77
Most people I would question. He almost died from a bad wreck and no one covers enough to cover that car. The two combined, he will have to sue
Posted on 6/4/19 at 4:17 pm to Covingtontiger77
Just think, you're looking down at your phone, reading TD when you swerve over the line a bit and hit the car next to you. Except instead of sending him to Caliber Collision and billing insurance, you're now declaring bankruptcy.

Must've paid for it with the money he got from his last crash

They probably have a $2m 401k and he has a $2m car. They and their children will probably be wealthier longer than him.

For starters, the tires are specially made for the car. Now, I don't want you to mistake what I said and think they're just a special order item. Michelin specifically designed these tires for this car. No other car on the planet uses them and no other set of tires on the planet can safely go on the car.
The tires last 2,500 miles and they are about 9 to 10 grand... a tire. When the Veyron was first released, the tires could only be mounted on the wheels by Bugatti because the tire and wheel were a non-standard geometry and the mating process is non-standard. This is very important because you generally like the tires to stay on the rims and inflated at 250 mph. The mating of tire to rim was done at the Bugatti factory in France, so you'd ship your wheels there and they'd change the tires and ship them back.
And, that's just the tires. An oil change is over $20k and takes over 24 hours to complete. You basically have to take the rear of the car apart to change oil. It seems impractical, but it gives the technician a chance to inspect everything mechanical during the process to ensure that it's still safe. Remember: This car is literally built to do 250 mph and it's horribly unhealthy for the car and the driver to try that if everything isn't perfect.
So, now we're up to about $60k and we're still going. Did I mention that the wheels are only good for about 2 tire changes before the bead integrity can't be trusted at speed anymore. Every other set of tires, you're changing the wheels out, too. Since we go through a set of tires every year, figure you spread that cost over 2 years. I think a set of wheels runs about $60k, so we're burning up $30k of that every year. We're up to about $90k.
Now, insurance on a car like that, I've got no idea, but let's figure that if insurance on a $50k vehicle is $2k a year, the insurance on a Veyron should clock in at around $80k a year, just from simple scaling to the car's value. It's probably not nearly that high, but everything else on the Veyron is exorbitant. Let's just call it $4k a month to insure. That's another $48k and we're up to $138k. EVERY YEAR.
And we haven't touched the brakes or had something major actually break.
For the normal consumable costs alone on a Veyron, you could literally buy and insure a brand new $100k car every year and never have to do any maintenance on it because you can just put it into a car crusher when it's a year old and just get another car.
And you'll still spend less than it'll cost to drive the Veyron. Also, we haven't bought gas for that thirsty bitch yet, either.

So $16/mile in tire usage? It would cost me $992 a day in tire usage just to drive to work and back each day. Around $240,000 a year in tires just for my commute.
