how is the DA the one to make this decision? thought a judge made the call, with input from the DA?
you missed the part where he said he was going to recommend a re-sentensing

Their abuse quite frankly seemed way too detailed to be made up. I’m also pretty sure that their accounts are consistent with each other, which is almost impossible to do if two people are making up a story. (It’s hard enough for one person who’s making up a story to keep their account consistent with what they themselves told the police just 3 days earlier.)

And few males would make up being sexually abused even today, let alone when there was more stigma around homosexuality 30 years ago.

Now, I don’t really have strong feelings one way or the other on whether 30 years has been long enough in prison for them. I’m definitely glad that they were spared the death penalty.

Sucks that they were abused, but does that make blasting your parents domes off with a shotgun less than 1st degree murder?

I havent followed closely but from my limited knowledge, why would anyone care if children being abused kill their parents? It sounds deserved.

Well, this forum, like almost every other forum, tends to cheer on child sex abusers getting tormented by their fellow prisoners. Heck, people even like it when pretrial child sex abuse inmates who haven’t been convicted yet get tormented in jail.

Something does seem a little inconsistent with cheering on attacks on molesters in prison and opposing the release of people who were actually personally harmed by the abusers they killed.

I don't necessarily care what happen to the parents(If they're guilty) but I do care about having laws and a justice system.

I tend to cheer for justice through the system we have in place.

Yes the system need to be tweekd and corrected in some areas but we are either a country of laws or we are not.

Just because they said so? There was no evidence at the time that they were getting abused other than their own word.

Newsom has said that he has "made a decision about the case" but will not announce it until after the DA takes office and weighs in on it.

The "New evidence" is a the letter that Eric wrote to the cousin 8 months prior to the murder saying that "it was still happening"

This, and the other new evidence is that former Menudo boy band from the 80's, Roy Rossello, publicly came out and announced that Jose drugged him and abused him when he was 13 years old a number of occasions. This was the time when Jose was the CEO of RCA Records. The confession is somewhat recent and he kept his silence for decades.

I think there's a documentary about Roy in Netflix.

Jose was a sick f*ck and he deserved what he got. There's no place for pedos in this world.

We're still at 0 reports, even unsubstantiated, of mom doing this stuff, yet she was also murdered.

I believe it was Lyle who alleged that Mom abused him and I think they both alleged that Mom knew about Jose and did nothing about it.

Here's an article.

Lyle Menendez Tells Court of Sexual Abuse by Mother : Trial: He says she would wash his body ‘everywhere’ and had him in bed with her until he was 13. He gives further testimony on violence by both parents.

TIMES STAFF WRITER

"Lyle Menendez testified Monday that his mother was “very strange” and frequently violent and that she--like his father--sexually abused him.

Until he was 13, his mother would wash his body “everywhere,” he said. She also would invite him into bed with her and he would touch her “everywhere,” he testified.

“I took it to be love,” Lyle Menendez said, adding, “She was enjoying it.” But he was not enjoying it, he said, so he stopped the activities, which enraged her.

Throughout his adolescence, he said, she “harassed” him with increasingly bizarre sexual conduct."

I should've said pre murder there were 0 claims. That was my fault for not being detailed enough in my statement.

I don’t give a frick about these losers saying they were sexually abused. It’s never come up before and the only reason it has is because they are from California, which is about the only place on earth that murderers could make shite up and get sympathy.
