I agree man, our office is at 225 and battleground. It’s scary how much stuff is sitting in a tank within yards of this site.

Could see the flames all the way from I-10 when I passed about 3:30 pm Sunday. Pretty impressive with a large cloud I could see from miles away.

Not sure if that would be an option simply because it would put loading hands in an absolute unsafe environment. Pretty much have to find deckhands with a death wish like the Fukushima inspectors.
The best bet would be to pipe it to their other facility about 2 miles up the road in Pasadena. The only issue there is they only have so many pipes and a bunch of different products in storage.
It's a messy arse situation.

Yeah the way they are attacking it is pretty much the best way.
People are questioning the briscoe Cain report of 12 tanks, but it’s at least 6...there is video on Twitter. Even if 6...still bad especially if they can’t cool the steel. All of these petrochemicals can burn in excess of 2k degrees F. Which would be well beyond the yield of carbon steel.

I would assume they have flooded the containments. So hopefully there is a shite ton of water in there cooling the tanks.

Only problem at this point would be one of the tanks failing and leaking product onto the flooded containment.

Some of our guys are fighting fire, because we are part of CIMA. 6 tanks on fire and 3 quick attacks are destroyed. As of right now they aren’t getting it contained much and it just keeps getting bigger. They have tried to foam it but didn’t have enough. They have run out of fuel on multiple pumpers. It is a shite show.

Our two trucks having been fighting this fire since the first CIMA call went out.
We had a similar incident happen at our facility in 2008 in a manifold. Nothing you can do but let it burn and try your best to cool the surrounding tanks.
Unfortunately for ITC this battery of tanks is built in close proximity to one another making it that much more difficult to mitigate the second and third order effects.

ITC released a statement about 2 hours ago that confirmed a total of 7 tanks...6 gas blend and 1 oil tank(not black oil) are on fire.

Live video certainly looks like they are far from having this under control. Those tanks being in such proximity makes for a nightmare response effort. For anyone that has been through an incident or firefighting training, it’s scary as shiite looking at that.

They've rattled off what the tanks hold. It's a lot of additives to gas and other products. Naphtha was one of the first two tanks. Xylene I believe was the other. This morning I guess 6 more tanks went up with other chemicals.

Sure looks uncontrollable right now. Would these tanks explode like the West, TX plant a few years back? Or something much less spectacular?
