If you get on a computer, your browser should have a reader mode. It's a nice article, mostly about the victims, very little new info. I'm not near a computer anymore.

I am in my 50's and native to Covington, there is so much crime that happens here that most ppl just don't hear about. And, this is not only the 2nd homicide this year. I am proud of where I grew up, but this lil town is not quite all the same as it once was.

As someone not from covington but grandparents moved there in the 70s I’ve known it well.

What just happened is happening everywhere around the country. This dude should not have been out of jail. If he did the punishment for previous crimes this wouldn’t have happened.

It’s not Covington that’s the problem its our society, or really liberalism that has put priority on criminals over the guy that goes to work everyday and goes home and wants to be left alone. And people, maybe not you, but the majority of people are fine with it.

The press conference about the double homicide was postponed by the PD Chief and the Mayor until the coroner completes his investigation.

While a press conference today could have been Beneficial for those concerned about safety, it could have lead to frustration.
I’m not surprised that it was pushed back.
A lot of the info people want is really just arm chair detective stuff and not really necessary to know.

That said, considering that this crime is so unusual for the area, it would be a good idea to settle some concerns for the citizens over there who are uncomfortable in the wake of it all.

The mayor's primary means of communication with the residents is via e-mail (over 3,000 readers). He does not and should not depend on the media to carry his messages.

From Monday:
"Currently there are two persons of interest. I can say with confidence our residents are safe at this time."

From yesterday: "With the alleged perpetrator in custody I am confident our city is safe."

I am fine with the city waiting until all the I's are dotted and T's are crossed before making a big statement. That way there will be as few unanswered questions as possible and nothing would be said prematurely that could jeopardize a future prosecution. They also had to do DNA testing on the second victim for formal identification, even though we know who it is. The CPD made quick work of this and had this guy in custody before it was even known there had been a murder. I was not familiar with Chief Farrell prior to his appointment, but the visibility and responsiveness of CPD, as well as the professionalism of the officers under the current administration has been commendable.

I disagree with this sentiment.

The lack of communication of actual and extremely important details concerns me that they don't have this case completely locked up. All minor details of this event matters.

The relationship of the individual matters.
The abduction matters.
What did they steal.
What were there actions over the course of that day.
Where were they murdered.
How they were murdered.
Who was involved with any detail of the above or had any knowledge whatsoever.
What has been going on with Tyson's life over the past 3 months while on parole after 30 years of hard time.
What a shite show.

The above doesn't mean i'm turning this into a pissing match but lets not act like details of cases like this shouldn't matter to the people.

This guy gets it. Media will twist and turn or exaggerate for sensationalism. In other words they’re not honest.

The mayor or PD owes none of this to you to satisfy your curiosity.

The coroner hasn't confirmed Ms. Prats is a victim. She is obviously the second victim but they aren't going to comment on her death when her death hasn't been officially confirmed. Perfectly reasonable. I'm sure once this is confirmed, in the next 24-48 hrs, there will be a press conference in which all these details, if known, will be addressed.

The mayor covered up an incident in 2021 at the city owned pool where a teenager pulled a gun on staff and patrons. No charges pressed, staff weren't allowed to mention the incident and no counseling provided for staff and children who had a gun waved in their face at the city owned pool. He has always catered to the voters in the west 30's, even twerks with them at mardi gras.

Oh my God! I didn't realize this. I can tolerate alot of things, but dancing at Mardi Gras and acknowledging the citizenry of the West 30's is a deal breaker for me. We need to mount a recall campaign.

So updated story I’m getting thru rumor mill, grain of salt folks:

There is no prior relationship with Miss Pratts or father Otis this with Antonio Tyson. He was never hired with the church or personally or anything.

He was on a bike in neighborhood possibly knocking door to door in area. Looked out of place.

Somehow Mrs party’s opened door when heard knocking (her door or in the area/ apartments) not sure.

He comes back and is on video entering w a knife. Not on camera leaving w them. (Sounds like some sort of rear exit or residence) leaves w car and assumed kidnapping.

Used car in a drug deal at Walgreens and that’s how he was arrested based on a call on drug deal.

Not sure there is any other suspect. (Goes back to woman in drug deal not involved in murder)

That’s what I heard Monday afternoon but was discredited. The poster that said that was incorrect info is someone I believe, so who knows.

Has anyone heard anything on the news about them being shot? My mother just said her neighbor heard on WGNO about them being shot but I haven't seen that anywhere.

According to WWL, the coroner stated “blunt and sharp trauma” as cause of death for Fr Otis

Reportedly posted from the suspect's family member who can't understand why the brother he tried to support would do this.

It should be on a plaque in front of every parole board office hearing room.

It should also be used every time folks float the idea that crime is committed because criminals are victims of bad circumstances.

If the suspect is guilty of this brutal, amazingly cowardly crime, he has willfully chosen to destroy multiple families including his own. Despite having more support and opportunity than a lot people who have never turned to violence or been to prison.
