But all the defense will do is put GP's parents on the stand and ask them why they waited 11 days to file their own missing person's report.

They'll probably respond something like "It wasn't out of the ordinary for GP to not contact her loved ones for a week or so at a time."

Now, you've got the jury thinking that those close to GP gave her her "space" and it was not unreasonable to give it a week or so before becoming worried about her whereabouts.

so BL's parents can simultaneously need not file a missing persons report as well as lawyering up their son that just murdered her in the prior weekish time frame.

This thread is a mess and we've all argued about some dumb shite but I think we can all agree anyone making anything of note in that picture is crazy.

I will throw this out since I haven't seen it discussed yet.

What if BL had told the people who picked him up that he had broken up with gf and went camping on his own for a while. He comes back from camping and decides he wants to go home and ask if they drop him off at the Jackson Airport on the way to Jackson Hole instead of trying to return to the van and drive it home. He returns home and the van is still at Spread Creek how different does this case turn?

is that trail cam pic near where they are searching the preserve or whatever the hell its called? Is this the biggest reason why they were there?

No, they’re there bc it was his favorite place to go and the parents told cops that’s where they found his car. Their story is he left Tuesday saying he was going hiking there and he didn’t come home. They went looking for him there Wednesday and found his car but left it there in case he was just camping and was going to drive it home. Thursday they went and picked up the car.

Honest question as I don't know the answer, if this was her residence and she was missing why would the police not have searched the house sooner? Why would they have waited until she was found dead?

If a spouse is missing, is it not common to search the residence? I'm honestly baffled by this as I didn't realize it was her residence until now.

it's been noted elsewhere that this picture is from a 2018 real estate listing before the laundries bought the home...note the realtor dot com watermark in the corner.

Well two things:

1. According to a previous commenter, they only hired the attorney to represent BL after GP's parents filed the missing person's report. Again, it is not unreasonable to lawyer up if you're the last known person to have seen a missing person.

2. And yes, the jury should consider whether it is reasonable to hold BL and his family to a different standard than they hold GP's family for how long it took them to file a missing person's report.

The only thing that could change that is if BL and/or his family were knowingly misleading GP's family as to her location and condition. If GP's family tried to contact BL or his family and they didn't tell GP's family the truth (that she didn't come home with BL), then that would change matters. But has that been established?

I genuinely believe that this case is complicated by the fact that it and all of its actors are spread across half of the damn country.

The amazing @marthamaccallum just interviewed the neighbors of #BrianLaundrie & his parents. The neighbors seemed nervous but mentioned after Brian returned w/ the van, he went with his parents on a 3 day camping trip.

Christ. I'm not admitting I was "fooled", but by what was seen on the video, what was actually determined by LEO that were physically present, by the words spoken by GP, a reasonable, objective perception that she was the aggressor is not wrong.
