The fact that this thread has devolved into Team Incels vs Team Simps is funny, pathetic, and a reflection of current day America.

Rumors floating that they did have a gun, at least as of 2020.

The image is from a TikTok video of their 2020 highlights so no evidence they had it on current trip. However, if a real gun, and they did have it on current trip, it may possibly be the murder weapon in 1 or 3 deaths (Gabby, lesbian couple in Moab).
I'm not taking sides, just wondering if any experts here can identify what she is holding as either a real gun or flare/toy gun.

If someone says they think BL killing her is 99% probable but entertain 1% alternative theories, and you quote that person only saying the 1% part as "holding wrong opinions" -- that's not being concise, that's being dishonest.

It was more laziness becuase I couldn't think of a more efficient word to describe the group that continued to latch on to a sinking line of thought that at times seemed to almost paint this dude as the real victim. I'm sure some of you defending this obvious murderer have sex somewhat regularly.

I generally like you as a poster, but what does this have to do with anything?
Do you have any idea how many cases I've worked where there were ZERO previous signs of abuse or trouble in a relationship and one of the partners just totally snapped over a one-time thing?
Obviously there were some previous signs of trouble here, but they mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. GP's parents obviously trusted Brian enough to not check in with her every day or worry about her too much, going on a cross country trip with him alone.
I'm not defending BL, he pretty obviously murdered her. But their history as a couple could possibly have zero bearing on what happened to make him snap and kill her. It may have been something as simple as catching her talking or flirting with another guy nearby that set him off, and before that he was a gentle guy. He may have been a piece of shite their whole relationship and been abusive, who knows.
The point is, until it's in court their history doesn't matter and shouldn't be such a point of contention. Relatively "normal" people snap all the time, I've seen it way more than I care to admit. It could've been something totally unique that set him off, it could've been a long time coming.
It makes no difference as she is dead and he is on the run (or dead himself).

That sure looks like a little .380 in that photo. Can’t tell enough detail on my potato phone to tell what model. It does not look like any flare gun I have ever seen.
