Unless I'm missing something, the last time that anyone has seen Brian was the couple that picked him up hitchhiking on the 29th.

Seeing that they came forward before anything about the van being spotted at Spread Creek was known and their version of what happen fits perfectly into the timeline, I'd say that they're credible witnesses.

I'm really starting to wonder if this a-hole ever even left the PNW, or if someone else flew out and drove that van back to Fla.

If he has that kind of lead, there's no telling when they will finally find him....or where.

Maybe they can pinpoint a time of death and correlate it to that suspicious text.

Unless she’s wearing a smashed wristwatch that has both time and date on it, then you can forget about having an accurate time of death. At best, it’ll be narrowed to days versus weeks.

What if she was wearing an apple watch that they can go back and check the data for when a heartbeat stopped... Just an idea.

Not defending him, just saying that he will use that in court to muddy the waters.

Are there pictures of him wearing the heavy black boots that the couple who gave him that very brief ride described him wearing?

and the text was the 30th.

Not so fast my friend

I was referring to this one in media reports:

"August 30: Last communication with family

Petito's mother, Nichole Schmidt, said the last text message she received from her daughter came on August 30. She said she was unsure if it was her daughter actually sent those text messages.

According to a warrant filed by the North Port Police Department weeks later, a detective wrote that Petito's mother "received an 'odd text' from Gabby. The text message read 'Can you help Stan, I just keep getting his voicemails and missed calls.' The reference to 'Stan,' was regarding her grandfather, but per the mother, she never calls him 'Stan.' The mother was concerned that something was wrong with her daughter."

I believe a neighbor in Florida saw him after 9/1.

Someone mentioned earlier in the thread - what kind of technology is he connected to? Anything that's on-line should be creating a trail that could help locate his whereabouts.

His neighbors told police they saw him after he arrived on the 1st. They stated he went on Bike rides with his mother and cut the grass. It was in this thread, with a video of a neighbor doing an interview, not sure which page though. He was 100% back in Florida on Sept 1st.

That isn't the text that was received on 8/30. That text was on 8/27.

Due to shitty reporting, shitty police work, or the family changing their story/opinion of the texts, the text message evidence isn't as clear as once thought.

That's still only a couple of days after the 29th. He could have more than two weeks distance between himself and the authorities right now.

ETA that I believe that this guy disappeared long before Tuesday and that his parents are accomplices. I'll be happy to admit I'm wrong when the time comes. But they're going down in all of this.

That would be nifty. Would be useful to know if and for how long she had tachycardia prior to cessation as well.

I don't care which text was which date. Regardless of which text was the 27th and which was the 30th, there was 5 days between the last known conversation with her and the last text from that phone.

"Nicole Schmidt, Petito's mother, told Fox News that the last conversation she had with her daughter was on Aug. 25.

"I don't know if she left Grand Teton or not," Schmidt told Fox News on Sunday. "I did receive a text from her on the 27th and the 30th, but I don't know if it was technically her or not, because it was just a text. I didn't verbally speak to her.""

They don't just hand it off to Florida Bureau of Investigation once it officially becomes a criminal case

??

Why the Fla BI? The missing persons was filed in NY. The dead body was found in Wyoming. The autopsy that will determine ID, cause and time of death is happening in Wyoming. I assume the arrest would would come from Wyoming?

Has there even been a missing person report filed on Laundrie in Fla? The State of Florida's only involvement has been in assisting the FBI, right?

That's not far fetched at all. One story out of New Zealand (IIRC) had a guy murdered and his pacemaker provided great evidence of when the murder occurred

quote:

Almost two days after the man was beaten to death, doctors were able to view the pacemaker's records and produce data for the duration of the incident. By analysing the data they were able to pinpoint crucial times, including when he was awoken, time spent walking around, the altercation with the intruder, and the time of the beating and his death.

Interesting case and first of it's kind

It has been reported the parents contacted police about BL missing last Friday. I assume it’s an official missing persons case, but not sure.

No. Up until today the local PD had been leading the search for Brian. Reporters specifically stated this morning that the lead of that search had been handed over to the FBI.

The likelihood of there being a trial is slim. He will almost certainly either be dead or plea bargain or out right confess.

There was another one with a guy from Mandeville that had moved to Dallas after college. He was shot through the wall in his apartment and his parents got a notification through an app that his heart had stopped beating. What a terrible way to find out your kid passed. There's no good way but to just check your phone and see that from an app notification would be awful.
