but OP DA refused to press charges.
Why? How did he get picked up on the 3rd and why’d they refuse charges?

St. Tammany joint supposedly for probation violation on DUI 3rd offense.
Damn. They gonna throw the book at him if they take his prior H charges in account. Can they do that?

the way I understood it was it overcrowding. cheaper to send him to St. Tammany and let them keep him off the street.

I actually thought my Perlis ad on page 73 was better work.
The Perlis add is good but the Latter and Blum ad had me double checking to see if it was legit or not. If you had matched the colors up I would thought it was totally legit.

i don't know how it works. the other poster said he serving the rest of his time for a probation violation on 3rd offense DUI.
Seems like his last H charge would be considered "ex post facto".

I always wondered what '3 for SS' meant

I assume you always need a cosigner of some sort, no?
Yes anytime the percentage is not paid in full up front, a cosigner will be needed.

I'm sure he'll be along eventually to regale us with his exploits in the next "who's been to prison" thread

The sad thing is I picked both colors. I had to change the LatterBlum text from black because it didn't show up on the background. When I added the bottom text I meant to click the same color but clicked the one beside it and didn't notice.

I think they may only be for violent felonies. I personally know people that have been convicted of more than 3 nonviolent felonies that haven’t received a life sentence.

In the jurisdictions I practiced in you normally had to get a serious or violent felony to start the 3 strikes. Most sex offenses, residential burglary, robbery, murder etc. One you got the first strike then you had a strike prior and most any felony would then be a second and then third strike. You would get mandatory enhanced sentences with one strike prior. Two strike priors is 25-life (no good behavior or work time off so you do 25 before being eligible for parole). Some jurisdictions have some leeway and judges can dismiss one or two strike priors if he/she feels the current charge falls outside the spirit of the 3 strikes law.
No clue how LA handles it
