In Louisiana, like many other states in the United States, there is a three-strike law for those who have been convicted of a violent felony like murder or manslaughter. ... Louisiana may also sentence a defendant who has three nonviolent convictions for 12 years in prison up to life without parole.Jun 23, 2017

If im interpreting this correctly..which im probably not.. 3rd offense dui is 1 felony and each H poss. charge is a felony. But i dont know if it "adds together"

Would depend on conviction status on each i suppose

The updated multiple offender law basically works like this.

2nd felony is 1/3 the maximum on the current charge to 2x the maximum. Examples: one prior felony, your current is a poss. cocaine, goes from 0-5 years to 1.5 - 10 flat. A PWITD cocaine goes from 5-30 years (serving less than 50% w/good time) to 10-60 flat.

3rd felony is 1/2 the maximum to 2x the maximum. This is where you start seeing scaling. Example : if armed robbery is your third, your sentence changes from 10-99 to 49.5-198 flat. You're done.

If the 3rd felony and your two prior felonies were crimes of violence or certain sex crimes, mandatory life. ("Triple lifer")

4th felony (and neither this nor the priors are violent or sex) is 20 years to 2x the maximum on the current offense. If the current max is less than 20, it's straight up 20.

4th felony and any prior violent or sex at all, it's the maximum on the current (at least 20) to life.

If the 4th and two prior are violent or sex, it's life. ("Quad lifer").

All of this is flat time. No good time at all, serve a day for a day. No probation, parole, or suspension of sentence.

Also, this doesn't happen automatically, the DA has to file a multiple bill and prove the priors (unless you plead to the MB) so it's the state's discretion.

he got arrested for the junk in OP. they chose not to prosecute but violated him on the terms of his probation on the 2015 charge. so, he got shipped off to Slidell or wherever the hell St. Tammany Parish is.

The Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain. Mostly white flight from Nola but it's probably one of fastest growing areas of the state

Why does everyone assume that people that think frats are silly or trashy wanted to be in one or couldn't have gotten in one?
