How did they get all the way back in there?

If they got in, they can get out, right?

They walked in. Monsoons hit and flooded everything.

It’s monsoon season. They may not be able to get out until October.

Of course not. They've been eliminated.

It's supposed to rain in the next couple of days. That plus rain water from previous rains are raising the water table there. I think they are nervous that it could raise the water in the cave they are in and drown them so they be forced to attempt a rescue via diving which has a high risk of them drowning, they may not be able to wait it out the next couple of months.

What are they surviving on? Is the water fresh or is it salty sea water?

They are making progress pumping it out now but that might be for naught if they get heavy rains in the next couple of days.

LOTS of water. Think of caves as underground rivers, not a pond. There's multiple sources including, some which they can find and divert, and others which they will try stay ahead of by pumping.

Gollum flesh mainly. They've got some easily digestible high protein food/drinks brought in recently also.

They are way up in the mountains, in being the operative word. Before the divers got to them they drank water running down the walls of the cavern.

From the map:

"Passage is too narrow for diver to wear oxygen tank."

THAT is the shite from which my nightmares come.

Here's a link of what that looks like, except this cave has nice clear water. Imagine doing this with your eyes closed and that's more like what these guys had to do in the Thai cave.
