Can they not light up the path or at least put some type of lights outlining the hole the kids would have to dive through. That seems like a much more sure fire way to have them execute these difficult passageways and would cause less panic.

I'm pretty confident that if there was a sure fire way to do this safely, it would have already been thought of and the rescue would be completed by now

I have a friend who is an MD that said if they are going to sedate the kids it would be with something like a high blood pressure med called a beta blocker - it doesn't cause loss of consciousness, just suppresses the body's reaction to stress. Supposedly people take it when they have a phobia of public speaking as well as those who have a hyper sweating condition. I really don't know.

Whatever they are doing, please dear God get those children out alive. Also, I am praying for strength and sanity for their families.

They'll use propranolol if that's the route they go.

Everyone in the cave carries a light, and they may have set up some lights in the dry (above water) portions. But the early divers have described the water as "zero viz"... That means that regardless of how much light you bring in, you cannot see through it. It's like thick chocolate milk.

Probably not, or if there are it’s not at the entrance.

Apparently you've never experienced whiteout conditions or impenetrable fog.

True and on top of that in near zero visibility, if you shine a bright light all it does is light up the particles floating in the water and the reflections make it even worse.

Per Guardian link

quote:

Various contradictory reports are circulating regarding the emergence of two of the boys.

Reuters says, citing a local official, that the first two members of the Thai football team have been recovered from the cave.

ITV’s John Irvine says that a local police chief has just told him that two of the boys are out of the cave complex. They are apparently safe and reasonably well.

The Bangkok Post, meanwhile, says the first 2 boys are on their way to the entrance of the cave suggesting that they have completed the swim and are now walking through the chambers.

The Guardian cannot confirm any of these reports.

You know that has to be the best feeling ever for those boys. I can’t even imagine the relief.

Earlier on it was reported that it was about a 5 hour trek from their position to the entrance of the cave.

Although that’s probably been reduced a bit if they were able to drain enough water to minimize the amount of diving necessary.

11 hr round trip for just the divers, can’t imagine how much longer it takes with the kids.

If two are out already that’s a fast pace than even the best estimates.
