The husband will definitely borrow gasoline, weed eater string, and other tools and NEVER return them.

These people are takers and not givers. Stay away.

If they had skipped the gift piece, I would say this is refreshing social behavior in today’s day and age.
We were going until then. My wife looked at the invitation and thought it was a little odd to mention in the invitation they were providing burgers and dogs but added, "to bring additional food items and drinks", so she was going to make a cold shrimp pasta dish, but when the "suggested gifts" thing popped up after we RSVP'd (I think it was the Evite app), she said there was no way she was going and it saved her from making food to take.

The whole purpose of your post is to subtle brag.

Nice job.

Anyone that borrows gas from me has my permission to keep it.

This whole ordeal is trashy.

I just fake wave ‘hi’ to my neighbors and they do the same for me.

We have principles around my neighborhood.

I'd pop in and ask if I can grab a burger and a couple hot dogs to go. Then head back home for some college football

Didn’t sound bad until the gift part. I’d have skipped, too.

…invited to a meet the neighbors event at their home.
Nice idea. Glad they care enough to want to meet everyone.

…what I found strange was, they are hosting the event, and serving hamburgers and hotdogs but the invitation solicited everyone to bring additional food…
Guess I can kind of understand that. I would not ask, but it’s fine.

…“and beverage items”
Wait, they said “and”? Food or beverage is fine, but to say “and” who the frick do they think they are?

…but they also included a QR code to RSVP to, and when I did that, it opened up to a wish list of housewarming gifts they suggest.
Unbelievable. frick these people.

why DFW area citizens, not necessarily Texans, kinda generally suck.

Honestly I don’t know what it is about DFW that attracts so many NPCs, but I’ve noticed it too when I have visited friends. I guess when an area attracts a bunch of people who are only interested in making money, that’s what happens.

I even went to a weeklong conference in San Diego and was surprised by how warm and Southern-esque most people were, as everyone told me Californians were dicks (maybe just L.A. though).

Get ready to protect your local library.

Go give them a Trump flag.
