I enjoyed the books thoroughly, but I don’t think it gets into the top 20 of greatest stories

I'm not even religious and the Bible takes a huge locust infested plague dump on Harry Potter.

A lot of the people were cast perfectly. The one I couldn’t stand was that damn pink woman from the ministry.

I was more meaning that they books had the ability to be as long as needed while movies have time limits. I was very upset with the ending of the last movie compared to the books

I dont know man, Hermoine gets pretty good looking in Goblet of Fire.

Cmon man that’s crossing the line.

Hermione is 14 years old in Goblet of Fire.

It would be okay to say Emma Watson is good looking, because she was 16 when she played that part.

Yeah I agreed with you, I was just elaborating on the Hermione part.

The greatest story ever told had something to do with Abraham and Isaac sitting on a fence

Hunger games were nothing but a pubescent girl whining about boy trouble. And the movies did an absolutely shorty job of casting imo

Unpopular Opinion: Harry Potter is one of the greatest stories ever told.

Well yeah. As fictional stories go, it's magnificent storytelling and it ended beautifully.

What I like though is the notion that it's a story developed as a defense mechanism by an abused, psychotic child.

If you think that pompous windbag ripped Harry Potter to shreds, you’re easily impressed with pseudo-intellectuals. While HP isn’t high literature and Rowling is limited as a writer, that review was written by someone as pretentious in his opinion of himself as he is jealous of HP’s success. The series was very good at what it was: a story aimed at children to get them to read books.

Well it's an interesting sorta idea though.

Harry Potter was a horribly neglected, traumatized and abused child. He develops this elaborate delusional network as a defense mechanism. The psychosis takes hold and he loses himself.

Close, but there are others. And yes, books over movies suck the big one.

To me, one of the best books in the last 30+ year is "The Stand" by Steven King. The movie sucked.
