At this point, LSU is mediocre and sinking fast. For LSUNO to achieve mediocrity is probably too much to ask!!

More reason that Rousse is a puppet on a string…. How could he make that decision in 1 day on the job without someone telling him what to do? That’s too big of a move for someone not to tell him to do it

was what Bobby jindal wanted

Jindal trying to shrink the university systems in Louisiana might have been the last real attempt to fix an issue by Lousiana politician

Texas has 35 4 year state schools vs Lousiana’s 18, despite having 31 million more people.

Wasn't his decision, State legislature passed a bill in June starting the process. Also gave the university $20 million to pay off debts and another $450k for a full financial and academic audit.

There is no question Louisiana has way more 4 year schools by population than Texas.

I don’t have an issue with having as many campuses to give students access to a quality college education, but where the more schools becomes a problem is in administrative staffs.

I think the UL System should be reimagined as a satellite school network sharing degree programs with remote or closed circuit video classes to where duplicate degree programs can excel together.

For example, Nicholls and Southeastern’s biology programs would merge and courses would be taught by a mix of Southeastern professors and Nicholls professors. The dean of the department would be in charge of both school’s programs. Campus labs would still be available at each school. Professors may travel to each school for lectures and labs.

The main goal is merge administrative functions into a single set of administrators and vice presidents making 6 figures to balance school level managerial staff.

Southern BR should merge with BRCC and become the University of Baton Rouge

This decision was made last summer has nothing to do with Rousse it makes sense will allow for consolidation easy transfer of classes etc

Never tie up to a sinking ship. Typical Louisiana behavior to do it.

BRCC would probably complain about their standards being lowered if they merged with Southern.

Wasn't it LSUNO back in the early 80s?

EDIT: I just looked it up. It was LSUNO in the early 70s. I am old.

UNO was founded as LSU in New Orleans (LSUNO) in 1958 and remained part of the LSU system until 2011

Just looking at the current and previous few freshman classes at LSU, it looks like this is already happening
