This is true…plus the middle seat getting overhead priority is trash
Middle seats suck balls. I've gotten stuck in a middle seat several times in the last couple of months due to flights getting rescheduled .

Why do so many of you HAVE to have your carry on with you at all times? I gate check it all the way thru and keep a spare pair of underwear in my backpack. It slows down the whole process of boarding and deboarding. But hey you don’t have to go to baggage claim and wait 5 minutes

If you load back to front idiots still will take the first overhead bin they see. Then the front passengers bins are full, they have to walk to the back to find a bin, and then double back to their seat causing a bigger cluster frick.

Yep, I can’t stand people that do this shite.
It is super aggravating. People that knowingly board out of group so they can secure overhead space, and gate attendants don't stop out of group boarding.
And the overhead issue would be a lot better if people would actually use regulation size carry-on luggage and the flight attendants would enforce the luggage size. I'll never understand being able to afford a plane ticket but can't afford checking a bag when needed. If you can't do that, you don't need to be flying.
Flying is an absolute fecal matter exhibition.

How the heck did this take until 2023 to become a thing?

They should board the obese last. Walk of shame.
And get butt cheeks slapping every one in both C and D as they proceeded down the aisle. Why punish the aisle patrons?

I don’t care about the $40, when I land I want to leave and not worry if my bags will make it there

The problem is overhead bins.
Aisle seats get absolutely fricked.
But at least you can get back in your seat easy after finding that one remaining space wherever on the plane

That’s a big assumption that your checked luggage even arrives.

I'm down with this; I do this often and, most of the time, it's a bag that fits under the seat in front of me; i.e. it's a regulation size carry-on.
I am talking about people who clearly are trying to dodge a checked bag fee by bringing on their oversized luggage as a carry-on.

that will give the window people first dibs on overhead space
If you have a middle or aisle seat, just plan accordingly.

If they add boarding back to front, it would be perfect.

Does this mean that if you have a mother, father and child traveling they can’t board together?

My kid isn’t getting on the plane without me.

Speaking for myself personally I try to avoid checking a bag due to being slowed down at my home airport which is absurdly slow. I usually get 1 free checked back included with my fares so it's not the expense
I've also had lost luggage before and that is a huge PITA

Blame airlines for charging for checked bags. Now, everyone on the plane is stuffing their shite into overheads, sometimes 2-3 bags each, taking extra time and God help you if you are in a low boarding class. And instead of slowing down on nickle and diming, they keep adding more and more little surprises.
Posted on 10/18/23 at 4:34 pm to deathvalleyfreak43
Well, it’s only taken the airlines the better part of a century to finally figure out the best way to load passengers on damned flight.

That's fine so long as the bag you bring on board is the regulation carry-on size; that's why I included "when needed"; i.e. your bag is too big for carry-on.

That’s why i now stick one of those Apple pod tag things in my checked luggage.. so at least when my bag gets lost, i can tell THEM where in the world it is .
