The 777 has longer range and is more fuel efficient. The later model Airbus aircraft are as well. With introduction of the A350 and the 787, a lot of international routes are now going to move to these aircraft.

Lol I remember reading after Bethune took the job he flew on company flight to get an overall experience. He said there were 3 different colors of seats in coach. Many had been pulled out of other types of planes. They had like 10 or 11 different types of aircraft in the fleet at one time. Their Airbus A300's were nicknamed A360's, as they always came back to the gate because of mechanical issues.

The 777, which looks like a whale with wings from a distance, is also wildly popular.

A320 and 737 remain the most popular airframes on the market though. They have 3-5 year backlogs for each of them.

I have flown a handful of flights IAH to FRA on Lufthansa in the 380. They have all been the smoothest transatlantic flights I have ever had. I know nothing of aerodynamics and aeronautical engineering but it must be the size, correct?

Were you coach or business class. I ask because obviously business class will be a nice ride , but how was coach on a A380 (assuming you were back there)?

i took a BA 787 to LHR a few weekdays ago and took a BA 744 to MIA on the way back. The 747 is a beautiful nostalgic bird, but her time is long gone.

Both...Business/First are all upstairs.

Premium Economy and Economy are down. Never sat in true economy but did the premium economy just last month and it was a nice happy medium. A big improvement over economy but noticeably not business.

Business has just gotten too expensive to justify for me. In the past you could find a ticket for 5-6k to Europe but now they are running over 7k at a minimum.

Distinctly remember my very first flight. DFW to Miami and the 747 was the plane to and from. I never left my seat and my headphones but my older sisters got a tour of the plane upstairs and cockpit. No pics of sisters and the cock.

The 777X (replacement for 777-200 and -300's) only has 300 orders but will fill that small niche the 787 and A350 can't fill.

Yeah the 777 is a pretty good plane, but the resemblance to whale is uncanny

Been on a 747 about 25 times or so in the last 30+ years and every time I’m amazed at how smooth take off is.

Just landed in Detroit in the last hour on the Delta 747 from Seoul. Got a ride upstairs as a last minute surprise. The pilot said that they were expecting to retire them by now.

The 777 and 747 are both great planes....but the 747 is legitimately pretty.

The 787 can do this though.

The 777 has so many variants it makes a moe logical plane for long haul carriers than the 777.
